Paul in the epistle to the Ephesians taught us that we must live in imitation of Christ, that is, in accordance with ethical principles, such as the golden rule (Matthew 7:12) and the silver rule; because in this, is what consists practicing the good love (Agape) with our neighbor: "Follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love" Ephesians 5:1.
And when we do this, Paul added, it is because we seek the most important thing, and that is neither happiness nor money, because these goods can be temporary or deceitful goods, the most important good that we can receive is to inherit the Kingdom of God. In this consists the true spiritual sanity of man. As taught our Lord Jesus with wisdom, the domain or empire of the divine perfections ("Be holy, because I am holy" 1 Peter 1:16) is a hidden treasure that we have to discover inside ourselves (Matthew 13:44).
We must be very careful in our choices because before man there are two paths, wisdom and foolishness are choices that in the long run give us a reward (Galatians 5:19-23); understanding and recognizing the ways of the Holy Spirit with the mind and the heart, is essential for life as such, the life worth living: "Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is" Ephesians 5:15-17.
The Christian spiritual search then consists in leaving behind the darkness of sin and error, because what is sinful is hidden because it is not beautiful; and seek the beauty of light that emanates from the eternal wisdom of the Lord, which dignifies us and fills our hearts with joy and happiness.
