Speaking In Tongues?steemCreated with Sketch.

Acts 2:4-11 (Aramaic in Plain English)
“And all of them were filled with The Spirit of Holiness, and they were going out speaking in various languages, according to whatever The Spirit was giving them to speak.”

“But there were men dwelling in Jerusalem who were worshipers of God, Jews from every nation under Heaven. And when that noise occurred, the entire populace gathered and was agitated, because each one of them heard that they were speaking in their dialects. And they were all marveling and were amazed as they were saying, each to the other, "Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?” “How are we hearing, everyone, his own dialect in which we were born?" "Parthians and Medes and Elanites, and those who dwell in Bayth- Nahrayn, Judeans and Qapodoqians and those who are from the regions of Pontus and of Asia, and from the regions of Phrygia and of Pamphylia and of Egypt and of the countries of Libya which are near to Cyrene and those who came from Rome, Jews and proselytes," "And who are from Crete, and Arabians, behold, we are hearing from those who are speaking in our own dialects, the wonders of God."

Don’t stop there, keep reading. From this scriptural foundation, you will understand the truth of what the failed priesthood refers to as “Speaking in Tongues.” Afterward, I would encourage you to read a short children’s tale called “The Emperor’s New Clothes” by Hans Christian Andersen. Adults need it far more.

To the Pentecostal faith, it is a common sight to see people flopping on the floor while making nonsensical sounds or speaking gibberish. They do this with the belief that the Holy Spirit has touched them and caused an experience so divine that no rational mortal mind could effectively process or communicate it. Is this practice based on scripture? Is God not far more rational than any of us?

If you read more, you’ll see that mockers called the apostles drunkards, but that is contrary to what the majority of these crowds expressed. They were not babbling, they were speaking eloquently in many languages at once. The rest of the chapter details their clear words, but somehow modern people are lying to themselves and those following them by claiming divine influence as they flop around like dying fish which, in spirit, they are.

Rarely has the human capacity for self-delusion been more thoroughly expressed by so many together. Illusion and Placebo are the reasons these churchgoers behave as they do, and only they are the cause of their actions. God does not give His people a message hoping that no one will hear it. He makes Himself frighteningly clear even if we are slow to understand. The Most High does not send a prophet to slur His words like a drunk, nor anyone else.

If I had the gift of Tongues, I would speak God’s word in my own language and be heard in the language of those around me. The apostles were speaking their own language, but were heard fluently speaking the native language of each member of the audience simultaneously. If the mockers heard babbling drunkards, then it reveals far more about the mockers than the apostles. What is the Holy Spirit saying about those who knowingly babble and writhe on the ground today?

Amazing read! You are a fine writer, sir. Do you presume this has to do with reincarnation or an activation of past lives memory?

There is a similar subject connected to reincarnation, but I doubt they work the same way. For the apostles to be using their own past life memories somehow as they spoke, they would have to have lived and spoke each of the many languages present that day. That doesn't even factor the fact that multiple languages were being heard simultaneously from the same mouth. We have the potential to remember languages used in our past lives, sometimes involuntarily speaking them, but I think that's something different from the miracle described here.
