Shabbat Shalom 8/31/2018

This week has brought a revelation to myself and many I know about the ability to spew vitriol to people, even when trying to speak truth. Instead of a receptive engaging conversation, we are clanging cymbals together to which no one wants to listen or pay any attention. It does not matter to them how much truth you may be presenting or how much you really love them and want them to see.
Thankfully we also have those willing to call us out and encourage us to work on our relationships. For me, it begins with my own children. There is also the promise for mercy, grace, and forgiveness for our missteps, for which I am grateful. And we can enjoy resting in that.
Our words can bring Life or death.
Choose life.
Enjoy your God-given day of Rest!

Someone I know stated that the command to not start fires on Shabbat includes or really means that we should not start arguments on the 7th day based on this verse in James.

When I think about how we are supposed to rest and focus on the Father that day, it makes sense.

Just food for thought.
