This is what a righteous man does:
But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night
But his delight is in the Law of The Lord
God's entire word is used and described by the phrase, "law of The Lord", which can be found throughout The Psalms. The Law of The Lord isn't just used to describe the "law" portion pertaining to the first five books of The Bible.
Let me ask you this dear reader ...
- What gives you joy?
- What in this world makes you happy?
- What gets you excited!
If your answer was personal pleasure, then I'm sorry to say that you are a self-centered and a selfish individual. If your answer was friends and / or family, then that's all good and well, but it still falls short.
The man who is righteous find his delight..... Where? In the Law of The Lord!
You see, when someone finds delight in something, you don't need to beg and plead with them to do it or even to like it. Whatever task it is will be done all by themselves. Why? Because they find delight in it!
- Your delight for The Word of God can be measured by how much you as an individual HUNGER for it.
And in His law he meditates day and night
The righteous man when reading or hearing the Word of God doesn't just hear it and do nothing. He doesn't just read it and do nothing. He ponders on it. He thinks about it.
Today's Christians should be doing exactly that, meditating on God's Word!
In Christian meditation on The Word of God the Christian fills their mind with God's Word. Unlike Eastern meditation where the goal is to empty the mind. When a Christian thinks about each phrase, each word that he / she reads and meditates on, they can apply it to their daily lives and pray about it to God.
There are only two times when a righteous man has God's Word on his mind...
- Day and Night!
