What an interesting and influential man. I never knew that one of the reasons he explored was to open up trade routes so as to counter slave trade. Good thoughts!

    Thanks Annie. Yeah. He was quite a humanitarian. Some would argue that his work served to open Africa to more exploitation which may be true, but that certainly wasn't his intent. And he was influential in the abolition of the salve trade.
