The last day of 2017 is upon us and some are already welcoming in 2018. I was just talking to the kids about what all we had happen this year. Living in Texas...and Panama. Visiting new places in Panama, making new friends, learning a new language. The list of our "new" things from 2017 is very long. I cannot even imagine what 2018 is going to bring us! It caused me to look into the Bible and see what God has to say about new things.
Isaiah 43:18-19
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing.
Wow! I love that God was telling the people not to look back to but look ahead to the new things He was doing. That is how we can live our lives, right? We can look back and wreck everything in front of us, like driving while looking in the rearview mirror, or we can look ahead with grateful expectation of what is to come!
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
I am a new creation in Christ! The former me has passed away and I must choose every day to live for Him. Most days my old self still wants to come back to life and rule, but I have to continually pray for help to live for Christ and not myself. Are you a new creation? I did this to my self-many times. I was living life based on prior experiences and making decisions based on them. Which most of the time only leads to being afraid to try something new. Life is to short for being afraid.
That stopped 3-4 years ago and now I live my life by creating something new every day. Sometimes things just don't work out because you were not in the right situation with the right people. It does not mean you should not keep trying in the future.

Thanks for the comment! :) It is hard sometimes not to keep dragging up stuff from the past and feeling sorry for ourselves about a missed opportunity or whatever, but we have to keep going. I hope your year has started off on a great foot! I mean, you're in Italy so how could it not be? If things are going poorly, just run out and grab a gelato and slice of pizza. ;)

Trust me if anyone knows about this it is me. I had a lot of regrets and I did drag so much stuff with me for years. The only way to stop is to focus on what is right in front of you. Things you can control NOW. Thank you God I learned how to do this. I really wasn't realizing how it was all holding me back from LIVING.
My year had started awesome. And honestly, I can only thank myself for it. As I had the courage to see the things as they are, accept them, and move forward. Once you get become honest with yourself and stop making excuses why not this, and why not that, it was not my fault, you liberate yourself. The life is lived NOW. I can't let my past dictate my future. Neither should you, my amazing friend. :)

Amen!! I love the scriptures you used here. One of my favorite scriptures is 2 Corinthians 5:17. I am so thankful I am a new creation through Christ. I know that if we continue to look to Him we will have nothing to fear nor worry about. Because I live for Him and trust Him with everything, I can face a new year with confidence knowing that whatever comes my way I have strength in Him to get through it .
