The importance of a right view of God

The truth about God’s character empowers us to trust and obey when it is difficult. The more we understand that at God’s very core He is good, the more we are able to trust. If we really believe God is good then are truly unshakable. We can’t really trust much in someone that we don’t believe actually has our best interest in mind. One can only trust in something to the extent that they know it is trustworthy. If a chair does not look like it will hold you up you probably won’t carelessly flop down in it. You would probably be pretty cautious.

“Feed on His faithfulness” (Psalm 37:3)

The more we meditate on His goodness, the more we are able to trust God. God reveals what He is really like in His Word. The Bible should be the loudest voice in our life telling us what is true about God—even louder than our own experience! Especially if the truths about God’s goodness are being challenged by horrible suffering inflicted by the devil.

The definition of God

God is the very definition of love. “God is love.” (1st John 4:8) And love is not self seeking. (1st Corinthians 13:5) Love is selfless. God is selfless. Love puts others needs before its own. God earnestly desires others good. He has our best interest in mind! We can trust in God—even when we don’t understand—because He is trustworthy! God is good. Better than we think! :D

The promise

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Prayer

God, thank you that you are always good! Thank you that You are love! :D Help me to know this more and more! Give me more revelation of this truth! I ask for a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You! Help me to stand on Your Word and make The Bible the loudest voice in my life—especially when the enemy lies to me about who You are! Help me trust you more, Lord! And thank you that as I do, you will direct my paths!
