Text: Joshua 6: 10

But Joshua had commanded the people, "Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!" Amen

Jehovah won many victories for the Israelites as they journeyed to the promised land. This brought great fear to the surrounding towns whose territory Israel had to cross.

Now, when all the Amorite kings, west of the Jordan, and all the Canaanite kings along the coast heard how the LORD had dried up the Jordan before the Israelites until they had crossed over, their hearts melted and they no longer had the courage to face the Israelites (Joshua 5:1)

It must however be noted that, each battle fought by the Israelites came with its own winning strategy. For instance, in their fight against the Amalekites at Rephidim, Moses told Joshua to choose some of their men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Moses said "For I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand". So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered; and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning (Ex.17: 8- 11) Israel won victory with this strategy that day.

To be able to get to the promise land, the people of Israel had to confront Jericho in Battle (especially since the latter was more prepared to fight Israel than to let them pass peaceful).

The Lord instructed Joshua with a UNIQUE strategy for victory - that is the SILENCE MARCH strategy. By the help of God, this strategy also brought Israel victory just like the others that were given much earlier.

Dear Beloved, every problem of life requires a peculiar way of handling it. Silence, however can be one of the best strategies to overcome most of our challenges in life. We don't need to answer every provocative action.
Remain calm about many of the negative things that are projected against you until you have a word from God to share.

Sometimes we have to keep silent as we watch God working all these things out for our good. Remember He works in ways we can not see. Don't take matters into your own hands, be still and know that God is God!

Begin to pray now. Apostle James writes that "Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. (James 1: 19); therefore ask the Holy Spirit to bridle your tongue and teach you to know when it's best to speak and otherwise. And when you must speak, always remember that a soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." (Prov. 15: 1).
