I think that Christianity are hypocrites, why?

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward. But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard.…

I can see why.
That's but one of the scriptures that they conviently ignore.

I can see how you'd think that from reading these verses, but there's more to it than that.

Jesus Himself at times prayed "in public," and He is the model example for us.

For example, He prayed out loud in front of a crowd of people to raise Lazarus from the dead.

And he prayed after the Last Supper and in the Garden of Gethsemane while he was being betrayed by Judas. [John 17]

Following his death and resurrection, the people who believed in Him prayed together. They were praying together on Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came.

And in Acts 20:36, as the apostle Paul left the city of Ephesus, he prayed with the Christians there.

Jesus also told a story of two men praying in the temple. One was proud of himself, but the other begged for God's mercy. Jesus said, "I tell you, this man (the one who begged for mercy) went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Jesus said that God was pleased with the man who humbled himself while he prayed in the temple. He didn't say that the man shouldn't be praying there.

What Jesus was doing was teaching us on the nature of true prayer. Someone who really believes in God will pray when there's no one around to see him do it. Someone who doesn't believe in God, though, will just pray so people think he's religious.

During the time when Jesus was on earth, the Jewish people had to be very religious. Their whole society was based on religion then. So many people would just pray in public for show, because they were required to be religious.

When many Christians get together and pray, like in a church, that's not for show. It's just Christians coming together as we're supposed to. In the Jewish religion, I don't think people were praying together. But in Christianity, we sometimes do pray together.
