Broken mirror

Question: what is something that you would like to change about your selves?

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
James 1:22‭-‬25 NIV

  • have you guys ever been in a situation were you are listening to some one but not really paying attention?

-when it comes to the bible what does it say happens to someone like this ?

-why do you guys think it says they get deceived ?

-why do you guys think it compares someone who is deceived to some one who looks at a mirror and forgets what they look like
(The purpose of a mirror is to see who you really are so if you look in the mirror with out really paying attention to how you look are you going to be able to change)

  • have you guys ever studied something intently? (How was your experience ? Last minute study, cramping,)

-how long did the material last in your head (do you guys remember what you learned last semester)

  • what does the bible say we need to do to not be deceived? (Put it into practice )

Good question. What comes to mind is Jesus' words. Do not be deceived for in the last days many will come in my name saying they are the Christ. I believe it is through the studying of the Word guided by God's Holy Spirit that will help us discern things. Then again we have many Christian denomination and cults that are not willing to learn something different from their own denomination, limiting what God may want to teach them.

Yea exactly we need to fully submit to the scriptures not based anything on feelings or experience
