What we are doing:
My husband and I are working together on a major project titled 'Little Evie's Bedtime Bible Stories.' This is a very special project for us, and one we are doing foremost for the glory of God, and to teach little ones the key events and teachings from God's Word.
Right now we're in the first part of the production phase, finishing up the opening sequence (or 'intro') for each episode.
The image at the top of this post is the initial preview image we started with when planning the intro and first sharing with our family and friends that we'd started the project. This entire project is a labour of love by the two of us. The animating, the voices, the music, will all be done by my husband and I. Now, this isn't animating in the traditional sense. These are 3D models being rendered and animated. Explaining the animation process is beyond the scope of this post, however, and something I might elaborate on in a future post. For now I'm just sharing the main points of what we're doing.
We want to make something that stays true to God's Word.
There are a lot of Bible Story cartoons for kids out there already. And many of them are great. But a lot of them stray from God's Word, either by changing the story to varying degrees, or adding in information Scriptures don't give us. We want to make stories that stay as true to the Scriptures as possible, without adding in filler or altering what Scripture records.
We want to make something for our own kids to watch.
'Little Evie's Bedtime Bible Stories' is named after our little girl, Evie. These stories are for her. And for any other children the Lord may bless us with in the future. And for every child. We want to make something God-honoring that will help children learn about the Bible, yes, but most of all to lead them to Christ, and lead them to living the way He wants them to.
Of course, I'm sure adults will be able to appreciate the stories as well, at least if they're like I am!
The premise is simple and relatable:
Little Evie loves hearing stories from the Bible, and her mother reads them to her. Dad's there too, always ready to answer Evie's questions about what she's hearing. Common questions kids have about the Bible will pop up throughout the series - some serious, some not so serious - but all things that children would want to know!
We aren't working on a schedule.
We won't have set release dates for episodes. We're committed to doing the best job we can with the resources the Lord has given us, and we'll take as much time as we need to make sure every part of each episode is done as well as we can possibly do it.
So how about some more preview images? These are from scenes we've been working on.
Adam and Eve
Noah's Ark
Moses and the Burning Bush
Mary Visited by the Angel Gabriel
The Birth of Jesus
The Cross
For now, the work continues, and I hope to have some video ready to share very soon.
God bless you for what you are doing! As a Bible believing christian, I write my stories the way that they don't contradict the Scripture, to the best of my abilities of course. But if I see even little things that are not Biblical, that just drives me crazy! In your picture, Adam has long hair. It's a shame for a man to have a long hair, Bible says. I guess it is border line, but looks long to me.
And I would put flowers in her hair on the other side, now it's hard to tell who's wearing them.
I hope you didn't get offended by my remarks!

Hi there, thanks for your feedback! First, let me say these character images are not 100% final. We did discuss hair lengths a little bit while working on this already.
A question arises - what length would really be considered long? Would it be the same as in modernity? Even now, people disagree about what constitutes 'long' hair. Does it fit the era, is another question. I feel like this is a little bit open to interpretation. What I do know is they wouldn't have shaved their heads. I also notice that many depictions of Jesus have much longer hair than this (that have made me question them myself). Also, many of the men from other ancient cultures would've had hair much longer than this (or shaved heads and wearing wigs). Length of hair probably would have changed with cultural changes as well. Abraham probably had longer hair than Paul, as the Roman culture would've brought very short hair cuts more similar to the very short cuts we see today. Here's a traditional depiction of Abraham:

A lot of time and research could be spent on the subject without coming to a very clear answer - the Bible doesn't tell us the exact length a man should keep his hair, but it is quite obvious it should be much shorter than a woman's.
Here's another angle of our current 'Adam and Eve' characters. I can see where you'd see it as being long, but my thoughts were that in context it fit the time period. I tried to keep it 'meeting the beard or shorter'. Once again, however, as I work further on character development the hair may change. Thank you for taking the time to read and for your thoughtful comment!

I agree on everything you said, except one thing, don't look at what others did or said (including me), what does the Bible says, that what important. I simply directed your attention to a point I think is important, but it is your work and it is for you to decide what to do about it.
And you are right, there were only two people in the garden of Eden, who knows what they looked like. But I still think it's too long. :-)

Thanks so much! I can't wait to see one complete episode finished myself! But it'll take a little while. It's quite a bit of work to create all the elements (animation, narration & dialogue, music) and then piece them together. So it'll be a bit of a wait yet. But soon we should be able to share the intro itself, then really get into telling the stories. :) God bless!

Wow! Looking forward to the finished productions @mineisjesus. I cringe when I see any type of Christian movie or TV show series that falsely depicts the Word of God. I feel when they are trying to fill in the blanks of moments we might might not see in the Bible, they can go overboard. The Bible tells us not to take away or add to His Word but a lot of producers do this anyway and most of the time their work then becomes heresy. I commend you both on your efforts and initiative to bring Truth before families. I will be praying for your vision and that it stays aligned with the Word! From what I read it seems you are on the right track. We really do need more animations for children that are going to teach them correctly about who God is and the accounts of the Bible. God Bless your family~ Upped and Resteemed so you can get more support and that others will be ready to tune in when it's time ;)

Yes, AMEN! And thank you for your prayers, it's really appreciated!
I'm so glad to know we're not alone in seeing how a lot of the 'Biblical' movies and shows alter/change/outright twist things! Sometimes we really just shake our heads wondering why some things are added in that totally aren't necessary...and then, what's even worse, are the times that actual doctrine is twisted and ungodly agendas are pushed on the viewers!

You're absolutely welcome! You are definitely not alone. There is a thirst for Truth out there and we as Christians are called to bring it to light.
