Is the existence of God a fallacy? - Original article

in christianity •  7 years ago

Good evening (Venezuelan time) Christian friends, agnostics, atheists and I do not know what other new things have come out. I had a lot of time that I did not publish on these topics but here we are.

I have participated in many debates, on many topics, but today in particular I want to touch on the debates on religion. Please read to the end.

We all close ourselves before the truths.

In all the debates there are truths that are not taken into account, both sides say truths as well as fallacies, but they do not take the time to think if they are really right, this leads to an empty debate, without direction, without end, in where both parties end at the same starting point, in other words, none will give their arm to twist.

In this type of debate euphemisms are often said, that is, they insult themselves in a disguised or "intellectual" way. But unfortunately it is not brought to a middle point and we consider truths not so true or relative truths

Relativism is a virus that is destroying society, what we considered good or true, today it is not.

This is the great debate between Atheists and Christians: if God exists, why do they violate children ?, If God exists because he does not stop Hurricane Irma, Jose and Katia, if God exists, why is there so much evil? among others...

Others have already passed this stage and go to a more scientific point: The earth has more years than the bible says it has, God has no scientific support, so I do not believe, Darwin's Theory of Evolution is the most successful the truth, God is not more than an invention of the man to make money based on the hope of the fools.

I believe that no one denies God, but that it is in his interest that God does not exist.

I would like to know what you think, what are your arguments? Do you think that God exists or does not exist?

Let's be reasonable and if possible let's make a debate based on respect, considering that, what you know, I do not necessarily have to know.

Hey man, not something I would expect to see in introduceyourself, but a pleasant surprise nonetheless. My argument is as follows:

The burden of proof falls on the side making the positive claim. In this case, the side arguing for the existence of a god is the side tasked with providing evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. As I have participated in this debate before, I have yet to see any scientific or in any way conclusive evidence. Based on that, I see it as extremely illogical that we should adopt a belief in a deity. That being said, the evidence from social sciences indicates that for societies to thrive on a macro level, there needs to be a (fairly) universally accepted doctrine that respects individual autonomy, and upholds the concept that all lives are of equal value. So in short, no to god, yes to religion (or some other type of social and philosophical guiding principle)

I talk history, cooking, and will frequently veer into philosophy so I would love a follow. I look forward to your response.
