God Meant It For Your Good.

"... Ye know nothing at all, nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;" (John 11:49-51)

After hearing Jesus Christ had raised Lazarus from the dead, the council of Jewish leaders held an emergency security meeting.

"This man is a security threat; we have got to stop Him before He puts the whole nation at risk of being destroyed by the Romans. Let's charge Him to the Sanhedrin and silence Him once and for all," some of them said.

Then Caiaphas the high priest spoke up: "Are you all so dumb? Don't you know it is expedient that one person should die for the nation so we would not all perish?"

Caiaphas didn't know it, but he was prophesying God's anointing was upon him to do so as the high priest. The Bible credits him with this prophecy that Jesus would die for the nation, even though he did it in wickedness and ignorance, because after Jesus had resurrected, he bribed the guards to lie that He never rose again but that His body was stolen by His disciples. (Matthew 28:11-14). He even went to the extent of warning the apostles not to so much mention the Name of 'Jesus' again (Acts 4:17-18).

He and his co-conspirators did all these in ignorance. Even Paul did so much in Ignorance, that's the subject for another day. They all succeeded in condemning Jesus to the death of the cross but the Bible says, ".... had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory" (1 Corinthians 2:7-8).

Thank God they did, for what they meant for evil, God turned it around for good, Hallelujah! This same Jesus is now Savior and Lord.

You may be facing a trial by fire today or such persecution as would make the soul weary, but remember, all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).
