The feet of the storytellers

I love listening to people's stories. My late grandad was a storyteller. He had a myriad of tales to tell of his younger days. We all used to brace ourselves as soon as he started telling one of his tales, it was a sort of a "During the war" scenario for all who remember Uncle Albert from Only Fools and Horses. But actually, they were really interesting, some quite funny. He led quite a life. Just because we use the word story, remember, it is defined as an 'account or report'. All his stories were real.

We all know someone who always has a funny anecdote to share about something that happened to them. For every one of those people, there will be one who always brings a story of woe to the table, one who brings a wealth of facts and information. We are all different, and we all have our stories to tell.

But those who bring the gospel, the good news, they have the best story of all time. Paul describes the coming of those people thus:

How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings! [How welcome is the coming of those who preach the good news of His good things]
Romans 10 v 15

Welcome those who bring the good news of the gospel; they bring peace, hope, love, mercy, grace and forgiveness to their hearers. The prophet Isaiah echoes this sentiment:
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings, who publishes peace, who brings good tidings of good, who publishes salvation. (Is 52 v 7)

People's stories have the power to either build us up, cheer us up, or bring us down, make us low.... But those who bring the good news of the gospel will bring a peace everlasting.

May we all have an anecdote about what Jesus has done for us.

Amen, and may we all share it with those around us :)
