A CALL TO SECURE THE FUTURE

We live in a global society where values have been lost, changed, unduly modified and misconstrued. Subtle insanity is now being regarded as absolute sanity; the standard for what is right or wrong has been misplaced - 'wrong' has become the norm. We live in a time and Era during which spiritual sensitivity is of greater need than ever.

In all one does, understanding is key in living life to fulfill purpose. For the church to fulfill purpose, the need to understand the time and season we are in is of great essence. Where did it all go wrong? To answer this question, or at least try, one has to take a critical look at the set standard.

I very well understand the rate at which growth and development, technological advancement, economic and social reforms, new laws, policies and constitutions, and all sorts of changes in this world have come to settle and take their place in all we do as humans. In spite of this, the church is still not to lose sight of the mission at hand, carrying the vision and running with it. True! We live in this world, but we are in no way to be conformed to 'world's' systems of operation. One should do well to ask oneself, "what has light got to do with darkness?" Just as a new play is added every now and then to a theatrical repertoire, so do new trends originate every now and then.

Just as there is the right thing to do and the right way to do it, so is there the kingdom way to get things done. The values of most people today are based on the standard the society sets - what the society deems right or wrong, acceptable or unacceptable. The church should by no means do anything based on the society's standard but on the Word of God. Everything will fade and pass away but the Word of God will still remain forever.

Once the standard is not compromised, the work of the ministry and the perfecting of saints will be much more effective and fulfilling the God given mandate becomes a total victory to celebrate.

There is quite a lot of things the 21st century church has to be spiritually sensitive to. One of utmost importance is the future of the church. One has to realize sooner, rather than later, that the youth have a pivotal role to play as regards what the church will be like in the nearest future - a pretty clear reason the devil and his cohorts have as a mission to destroy the lives of youths - for it was clearly spelt out in Ecclesiastes 12:1: Remember now your creator in the days of your youth...

Fact still remains that everyone needs a guide as they walk through this-and-that in life; for ever generation, the preceding generation happens to be that guide. They do all they can to make sure the present generation do not make the same mistakes they made, live a much better life than they did, put them through times of destiny shaping decision making, and ultimately have a strong spiritual relationship with them.

By privilege, I see a lot happen to youths all over and I have come to realize the rate at which the lives of youths are being destroyed is very much alarming. Quite unfortunately most parents are well ignorant about this. Some may tell you with so much of absolute surety, "I know my son/daughter very well". Some even go further to confidently ask you, "would you know a child more than the parents do?". In spite of these standpoints, it has been clearly evident over the years that most parents know close to nothing about their sons and/or daughters as he/she is one person at home and entirely another quintessence outside the home.

In view of this, the undivided attention of the 21st century church needs to be brought to the fact that there is a wide gulf between this youth generation and those gone ahead of them. For what it is worth, no single generation can attain maximum effectiveness in isolation.

In essence, this is a call, to as many who can, to be an agent of Transformation in Christ, bridging the gap between two generations.
