Summary of the second event

Congratz to all!

Intro

One of my favourite holidays is around the corner: Christmas. A time of getting together with our loved onces and giving gifts to each other. Especially, the kids in our family gets really excited for this day.

What I like most about Christmas is, apart from receiving presents, is the joy I see on my family member's faces when they receive their gifts. Nothing beats the grin they get when there are tearing down the paper wrappage. When I give presents to my little cousins it's funny how they always start jumping.

However due to various circumstances like family moving away etc... we have celebrated Christmas less often like we used to.

Many people in the world don't celebrate Christmas or don't even have the chance to celebrate it. Steemit has connected many individuals around the world and has gifted many people opportunities that were not possible before, which is in line with the spirit of Christmas: Giving back to others.

This year I found a new family and that is the promo-steem community. Our group is relative new but I already feel connected to many.

Therefore I am holding a Christmas event with as central theme:

Giving

Source

How it works

Each 3 days up to Christmas (25 december) there will be a different event for which there are prizes to win.

For the third event:

  • Write about what Steemit (or crypto in general) has given to you! When did you join Steemit and how did you discover Steemit? What are the things you didn't expect you would encounter?

  • Everyone who receive atleast 3 votes will receive 75% of the SBD rewards of this post!

  • The other 25% + 2 STEEM will be divded among 3 good comments which I will personally choose!

ADDITIONALLY, as a curator for @curie and @ocd I will curate new steemians, which are approximately max. 3 months old, who have written a decent comment.

  • You can vote for comments by commenting "vote" below it. Everyone can vote multiple times, but only 1 vote for each comment.

NOTE: I hold the right to make votes unvalid if I have the suspicion of them being cast by empty accounts

  • For people who can't write in english we have translators in the promo-steem community for the following languages:
    • Spanish
    • Filipino
    • Indonesian

Happy holidays everybody!!

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.
If you enjoyed what you read here, create your account today and start earning FREE STEEM!
Sort Order:

@futurethinker, very well organized and full of perfection. You are truly a thinker not only thinker but future thinker 👌🏻😃

Thank you!

I like to live up my name ;)

The third event has ended! Further votes don't count!

Thank you all participating. I also enjoyed reading the comments for this event.

The prizes will be divided on post payout!

Hi! I joined Steemit last October 2017 when I messaged @jvl1989, to ask about Aurora Mine, and he told me to join Steemit instead. I was welcomed to the #steemitachievers group, and they have been my great support in my entire 2 months journey here in Steemit.

As a newbie in cryptocurrency, its truly difficult for me to understand how all these works. But I am doing all the readings and interactions because I want to learn and know Steemit more.

I believe in this platform.

I haven’t seen anything as amazing as this. Imagine getting paid by posting/commenting/upvoting posts. This is insane! Its like getting paid from doing what you love to do! Haha. I have been telling my friends about it because I don’t see any reason why they won’t love to be here.

I have made ₱20,000 on my first payout here in Steemit and that is way more than what I expected. Its equivalent or more than an 8-5 daily job here in the Philippines.

I can’t wait to finally make my resignation letter and just do Steemit full time. Haha.

But for now, I still have to work out my account. Its hard. Sometimes you’re lucky if @curie and @ocd curators will notice your post. Its like winning a jackpot prize. Haha.

I know with perseverance, all my efforts will pay off soon, and I will be able to help new Steemians as well.

Nothing comes easy, but I know Steemit’s worth the hardwork. 🤗💚

Hmmmmm
Steemit!
I heard about steemit early this year but because of the massive loss i had in ponzi last year, i was uninterested @samsticks and @emmexdee kept on ringing it into my ears. I remember @samsticks commenting on my Facebook posts and telling me to bring it to steemit, after staying extremely broke for months, i decided to give it a try. Truthfully i came in for the money, but I've had more than just money. @ifioklee brought me in and took me through the process but i didn't get as much money as i expected, i was almost frustrated up until i attended a meetup where i listened to @tojukaka, @ejemai andIMG_20171216_162129.jpg i put into practice what they said, since then I've spent 80% of my online time on steemit reading amazing original contents, interacting with intelligent minds, learning more about crypto and earning from blogging, commenting and upvoting.
I've been able to bring someone to the community and assist newbies. Steemit is the best that has happened to me this year, though it's the latest

Getting to know about Steemit and Crypto this year, has made me a better person. Apart from the financial values(which is the primary reason), I've learned to be patient, to interact freely with people, to invest wisely and not to give up easily.

I've made a lot of e-friends, my IQ capacity has increased, and I've been able to upgrade myself via these media.

I joined Steemit 9 days ago, cos of the way my school son hyped it, but I was introduced properly to the community @samstickkz, he has been a good mentor/leader so far.

From the hype, I saw it as another source of making income via the Internet. Just write, post and earn without doing anything. Jeez, I got it all wrong. Sometimes, I get stucked, not knowing what to write, or the fear of writing and not getting enough upvotes on my post.

Although, this is not a challenge anymore, cos I have full support from my beautiful family @ Uyo Steemit Community. And our leaders have taught us the mechanisms of Steemit.

Steemit is a precious gift to me, and I'm happy to share this same gift with my friends.

Merry Christmas in advance @futurethinker

I joined steemit 8days ago. I was introduced by @samstickkz. Steemit has given me the opportunity to express myself in the best way I can and still earn from just expressing myself. In just 8days, steemit has given me a family (Uyo steemit community)made of wonderful people who are always ready to help. What I didn't expect was to have the love and support this awesome people have been showing me. I felt it was just going to be everyone minding their blogs but the steemians in Uyo have given me a different perspective. As my boss @samstickkz would say, as a steemians you should develop the nature of giving to others.

Crypto has given to me an opportunity to escape the horrible economic crisis of my country Venezuela where minimum wage is like 5dollars per month and the majority of the people hardly reach 20 dollars per month.

So apart from the economic benefits, steemit in particular allows me to participate in an incredible project with huge potential, I have always been a person who spends a lot of time online, but this past few years after moderating an iOS forum for some time I was mostly just an spectator, just reading and reading without participating in any community. Now with steemit I am meeting great people, having fun with all the contests, reading awesome discussions and sharing content with interesting people! I am having a great time and I am very grateful for steemit.

I joined steemit about 2 weeks ago. Today is my 13 day in this great community!

The first time I saw steemit was several months ago I believe it was around May after the huge increase in prices, maybe I found this site looking for crypto articles, I don’t quite remember. But it wasn’t until 2 weeks ago when my now friend @jonsnow1983 mentioned it on a discussion on twitter and I wrote him asking about it. After what he told me I decided to join and I was amazed because the first time I remember seeing this site I thought it was just about crypto discussion! But there is sooo much more in it! I am very happy for it.

I didn’t expect to encounter such a variety of subjects being actively discussed, from conspiracies, to politics, sports, to even philosophical articles! Everything you can imagine! So I bet anyone can find their place here on steemit because the community is growing and the subjects being discussed is also growing.

I also didn’t expect the fun poker tournaments courtesy of @tuck-fheman and @spl which are also great, nor did I expect great football challenges like the Spanish one thanks to @davor27 or the British one from @nanzo-scoop , I discover those like 2 days ago and I am looking forward to participate in them.

Having said that, I am looking forward for an excellent 2018 for steemit and everyone of us users! Because together we are steemit!

¿Me he desilusionado?
Investigating about cryptocurrencies, I saw a video about steemit, but since it was in English I did not pay attention, until my husband told me that there was a section in Spanish, but that I had to publish only quality topics. With great fear I opened my account and started to see that there was a bit of everything. So I took off the fear and I was learning, thank God I have found people who have supported me a lot and here I am, grateful to coincide in this space-time with beings inspired to improve and share, to know in depth stories that I never thought that exist, here I can feel freedom to express without being judged as in other social networks, I got excited every day when I learn new things, for example how to make a more presentable publication. Have I been disappointed? Yes, many times, but something happens and I continue Definitely yes my life has changed a lot, in the early morning I wake up with something to write and share, although there are many young people and a lot of creativity I have managed to feel comfortable even if I do not win a contest or do not win much with my post. Although I would like to grow because I want to change my lifestyle, I have been locked in a business for 6 years and I also need physical freedom. I'm taking steps and I'm grateful to grow up in Steemit. I know I will not win the contest, I'm sorry to ask for votes, but I like to participate! Thanks a lot @futurethinker! Be happy!

I was only a social activist and had around Zero online income before I join steemit. One of my German friend helped me to discover steemit and said to crowdfund for the projects and activities I do with my community. I didn't get him. I even didn't know what is steem or even what is crypto currency. I joined on steemit and wrote my first post . I left without expectation making two posts and Later one day I saw some money shows below of the post ? For what ? :O Upvote. What is upvote ? Like ! Amazing . I backed again and learnt and I kept sharing my work continuously and found great people here who supporting me and my project lot.

Last Month my charity school @SchoolForSDG4 received around $1716 donation from steemit !

It was only for steemit what I never expected 6 months ago. Steemit gave me inspiration, financial assistance to achieve my goals. My humanitarian activities got valued. I am paid by steemit users to keep doing my activities and my charity also got 8 advisers who are helping and investing time from different part of the world.

Gifts

Through steemit, I could return children to school who was working as child-laborer. My Best achievement on steemit is my charity success. I feel so happy that from a small corner of the world I can share my community and people supporting me from by using steemit blockchain.

My school got Christmas gifts from @girlbeforemirror . She send so many gifts from Australia and also collecting unused products in her community to send them in Bangladesh. It was only possible because of steemit.

My another project @womenempowerment also got good success. I sold some products by promoting it on steemit. @tecnosgirl and @kenny-crane bought from us.

Thanks for reading and supporting me. Please reply VOTE

I joined the Steemit community last month. I was introduced to it by @kingsolo and it has been really amazing; the prospects and the direction this is all going. Really excited about it and as a newbie, it could be frustrating sometimes because you want go get it right with the right tags to use and also in trying to get upvotes. I have learned so much from people around me and groups, so yes, it is getting easier.

I had no clue about the crypto world, totally clueless, i mean, CLUELESS, but i am learning and i keep learning. I read as much as i can and pick up as much as i could and it has been really exciting. Not only about the cash outs (even though i am yet to make one, patience isa virtue, right?), but about the things i am now exposed to, things i am learning through reading from different posts, the motivation to move higher and make the most from this platform and the opportunity to have joined this community with the rare priviledge of getting my thoughts, feelings through my writings out there. Thank you @curie and @ocd for this amazing opportunity.
I couldn't help but thank @surpassinggoogle for his insightful posts. They have been of huge help and @tojukaka for being there always.
Steemit taught me about acknowledging people. Thanks to @japfive for bringing to us what @futurethinker is doing. Thanks everyone.
Steemit it is! I am turning up the steam.

Welcome to the platform!

It takes time to learn! Crypto is a revolution! I recommand you learning about the use cases for crypto. It's amazing!

Thank you so much. I will definitely do that. Excited about it.

I joined Steemit at the end of October this year (exactly 61 days ago!), and first heard about it thanks to @finnian, who commented on one of my YouTube videos that I could make money on this platform.
It took me several months to follow up on that, but better late than never, right?

Steemit has allowed me to have a voice, to tell people what I have to say about all the topics that I'm very passionate about, such as BJJ (my passion), veganism, healthy living, travel adventures and more.

It has also given me the opportunity to make friends, even though only virtual ones (some of them claim to be from the future or from even another planet, LOL), and to connect with people from all over the globe. Steemit allows us to have something in common, no matter our background, political views, race or religion.
...Just don't tell me that you support Trump please, or I will downvote you LOL.

What I didn't expect was to become part of the #Promo-Steem group and being able to help newcomers on this platform, as well as promoting it outside of this community. It's an additional challenge for me, but I'm happy to accept it. OSS

I first learned about Steemit from a friend and colleague, @fknmayhem. Over the course of several months, @fknmayhem had been helping me build and grow my Vegan blog, www.AtMemesTable.com. During the course of one of our conversations, he said that he was joining Steemit and suggested I do the same. Ever the skeptic, I lamented that doing this would just add another obligation to an already busy schedule. But, my friend persisted and said that I really should check out Steemit. So I did.

In October 2017, I joined the Steemit Community. And, I'm so glad that I did! Steemit has gifted me with a wonderful opportunity to express my opinion and write to my heart's content..whether silly or serious. It has also introduced me to so many interesting people in all areas of the world. Though Steemit, I've "met" some very talented writers and gotten a peek into the kitchens of some awesome plant-based chefs. I've gotten comments, tips and encouragement on honing my craft. And, the fact that I can actually make myself a little extra coffee or tea money.

Steemit has boasted my confidence as a writer and It has emboldened my creative spirit. I'm so glad that I followed the advice of my friend. Steemit has been a fun ride....one that I plan to continue on for some time to come.

Oh I know @fknmayhem! I see him hangout in steemit.chat sometimes. Good that you brought you on Steemit :)

Yes, @fknmayhem is a pretty cool guy. I like his individual spirit and spunk! So glad to be on Steemit and "meeting" interesting people like you! All the best!

Hello guys! I joined steemit November 2017 even though I heard about it since may 2017.
I heard about steemit from @samstickkz but then due to want I went through last year as a result of crypto deals I didn't believe, I just thought it wasn't real because I had lost alot of bitcoin to scam and didn't want to come anywhere close to it at the time. I really wished I took that one last risk who knows? What has crypto in general given me? Well by October I got over my fears and bought some bitcoin very little but at least it was something and as at then I was so sure that this year's Xmas was going to be the worst because I was really broke. Then came November and I asked @samstickkz about steemit again because I have been seeing his post and he encouraged me join, hmmm I finally agreed and I was added to the WhatsApp group. I made alot of research about steem, sbd, steem Blockchain and what have you, just to be sure I know what am getting into. I saw the potentials in steemit immediately and I have gone all out in, I even talked to all ma colleagues about steemit they laughed at me that was early December but as I make this comment they have all joined steemit because I did not stop talking about it @lordrayden and @davidekpin can attest to that. Steem did right the wrongs of bitcoin in life, it's has given me a reason to keep dealing crypto currencies and steemit has gifted me an amazing Xmas already. So far nothing is yet to take me by surprise about steemit everything I expected is what am seeing like I knew it wasn't going to be a bed of roses, I knew that if I work hard I would earn. So far nothing has taken me by surprise. Thanks @futurethinker for the opportunity to participate in this contest it's my pleasure and I must say you have been so supportive thanks alot.

I was not doing a lot of things in my line of work last September so it gave me some time to learn something new. I was talking to a friend about Cryptocurrency and mining because I have always been fascinated with technology.

Here he was mining for bitcoins and explaining what it does and by that time he was already retired and just living off his investment. So I was interested because who wants to keep working when you can work smart and have your money work for you.

So I studied Bitcoin. I read all articles I could find, I watched videos about it and I talked to so many people. One of those person was @ankarlie. She has taught me so many things about how to earn using bitcoin. We joined different programs, we studied ICOs and there were some times we got scammed but as we always said invest only what you can afford to lose.

So one of members @otom told us about Steemit. I was in even before I knew what blockchain or technology it uses but I was in because it was about blogging and writing again.

At this point I was actually looking for a new platform to blog in. I was at this point of my life suffering from another episode of depression and my shrink suggested that I should write again. In another episode in my life writing saved me from depression and so it was worth a shot.

So I love Steemit. I was able to write a lot of stuff, shared my food photography and even relive some of my older, happier memories. I was just writing the darkness out of my head. I also met a lot of wonderful people who shared the darkness I had and in a way by sharing the load we were helping each other get better. I made connections and always looked forward to reading their new post and commenting.

A few days ago I also had my first personal pay out. I cashed out 15 SBD and the transaction via @blocktrades was relatively fast. I had two reasons why I used blocktrades. First was it is the easiest way to change your SBD to BTC. So I can show the doubters I had how easy it is to earn and get your payout in Steemit because I have been promoting it but no one is believing it! So by detailing the process I did of cashing out one earning from post I show my doubters proof. And in less than an hour the transaction was completed and could be withdrawn. When I posted that I got swamped by so many questions on how.

Second I wanted to buy a new video game. So when I cashed out I was pretty happy about buying a game using earnings from a post I had.

So here I am for the long run and writing good content and powering up. I hope to be able to reach around 58 eventually. There have been times I feel bad because I barely get votes but then I remember those people that daily I talk to and share a piece of my life and writing out the demons out of my head and getting better.

I came to earn and write but did expect to meet people that help me get better.

Some day I will look back and smile and know Steemit made such a huge difference in my life.

Steemit been a blessing to me and my family. Lucky that my online friend @lynrogan introduces this site. She knows that I do love writing and its been my shield from all the sadness and tears. I can't really believe that with Steemit, I can help my family from paying those monthly bills. I just know the fact that I want to write because I want to let my feelings subside, wanting to loosen every angry, every pain, every worry and every tear and share those happy moments that been memorable to me but Steemit give me much, much that I can be thankful and continue writing and continue inspiring those who want to write but keep on writing and earning.

I joined steemit on October reluctantly (due to the fact that I didn't like writing) after being told about it by @ishotz
I've been so blessed by the community I got into (uyo community). It is a family that supports me consistently, I've learnt soo much in just few days.
I had a little knowledge about blogging so I knew that you have to be a consistent blogger for a while before you start getting paid for "clicks"...But I was taken by surprise when I made my first post and got paid just for introducing myself.

What I didn't expect was to earn as much as 52SBD in just two months of being a blogger...believe me, I don't need to tell people much to convince then now I just show them my alert and they all join in a hurry...
Steemit has made my life better, thanks once again to the lovely community I came into

Steemit has given me the nudge I needed to finally get into the blogging world and the world of crypto! My sister @karensuestudios kept talking about Steemit, until I finally joined. I've never imagined myself as a blogger before. I really didn't realize the amount of friendships that I would be making! It's been so neat to make connections and become friends with people all over the world! :)Thanks @futurethinker for building up the community - you are legit awesome!

First of all, thank you for making this platform more fun!

I joined Steemit back in October 21st, not to long ago. I started to read and study about Blockchain and Crypto in the beginning of October. After entering the crypto world and getting to know about cryptocurrency, I have realized something that I did not expect. At first, I did it for the money, but after understanding the difference between price and value, I concluded that cryptocurrencies, the technology behind it, and of course platforms like Steemit have so much value that I dont care about the price anymore, I will "hodl" and continue spreading the word.

I found Steemit by doing my own research, every day the more I learn, the more I like it!

So in conclusion, cryptocurrency and Steemit gave me knowledge, excitement and motivation.

It is very important for me to say I have met other people in different economical status and their life are changing thanks to this new Economical Revolution and Disruption of things!

A crypto hug for everybody!

This is one of the coins I could see holding for years!

Many more good things to come bro.

I am an older lady and technology and I simply do not get along easily. I have had to learn a lot and read a lot and ask fellow Steemians a bunch of questions to get where I am today. I still don't know everything but I make a point to learn something new each day with this Blogging recreational sport. LOL. I have been on STEEMIT for over a year and a half and have made so many new friends that I consider family. I live in a rural small community so getting out and meeting people is a challenge. So STEEMIT has given me a sense of socialization and friendships that I would never have had. STEEMIT keeps me on my toes and gives me purpose each day. I am brand spanking new to STEEMITSUGARS and it was nice to see an opportunity to comment on this. Merry Christmas to all you STEEMITSUGARS and hope to meet you all in the new year.

Thank you for coming by! I always appreciate a comment from a veteran Steemian!

SteemSugars is great!

And happy new year in advance!

First of all, Steemit has given me a whole new experience. Without it, I might still be slacking for how many hours in my room or maybe just simply doing nothing at all. Steemit has introduced me a new life, a life where I can be totally FREE. Free in expressing my feelings and emotions and possibly, I am free to reveal my true self. Not just that Steemit made me free but it has also helped me unleash a new talent of mine which is "writing".

I discovered Steemit when I saw a post about it on Facebook through @deeday31 where she posted her first payout. It got me interested that's why she filled me in on what Steemit was all about. I am really thankful for @deeday31 and @kneelyrac for devoting their time in teaching me the basics here in Steemit. THANK YOU KAAYO MGA ATE! ❤

As a newbie here in Steemit, I really didn't expect that much. I even imagined I'd just be a loner here having @deeday31 and @kneelyrac only on my side but I was definitely wrong. I was first welcomed by a group named #SteemitAchievers and they were all very friendly. I was very happy knowing them all. They first guided me on what to do and that was the time I've posted my very first post and my very own version of "Introduce Yourself". @deeday31 and @kneelyrac boosted up my confidence that time and told me not to be discouraged when I get little votes 'cause I'm still new. I already knew that it's really normal for new users like me. But here comes @seyiodus who noticed my post (Thank you very much Seyii!!! ❤), invited me to a group where I've met the BEST TEACHER I've ever had here in Steemit, @futurethinker. I really learned A LOT from him. ☺ (Thank you so much Papiii! Hehehe) I was then introduced to a couple of groups where I've met amazing people also here in steemit like #steemitbloggers, #steemsugars and #gratefulvibes.

I thank God from above for giving these such amazing people in my life. I LOVE YOU ALL GUYS SO MUCH! Merry Christmas. ❤

Greetings to all, I joined steemit almost 3 months ago, and I arrived by friend @theghost1980 that I saw him talking about this incredible platform, in all this time I have learned to make friends, and above all the most important thing a family, it is incredible how I can say that here I have brothers such as @jonsnow1983 and my friend and mentor @futurethinker, I've created bonds that I think even time can't break. Without any, this 2018 I only hope to continue growing the family that I have done in steemit, and grow as a platform and something very important to grow with the team #promo-steem, and to be a team of vanguard and support for the whole community.

This is just the start amigo!

Steemit has given me something to ponder on, a platform where I can freely express myself and at the same time touch lives through my posts, learn new things daily, make new friends, add profit and also have fun while doing it... Wondering how?

Well so far, steemit is the only community I know I can guarantee to always have good / quality contents to chew on daily... No junk, healthy stuff all the way.

I joined steemit some few days ago and really the experience so far has been overwhelming. I still cannot wrap my head around how amazing this community is. It's beyond words and nothing is like it.

As a fresh graduate with nothing doing at the moment, a friend of mine told me about steemit and how people have been earning by just putting up quality posts online and advised that I invest my free time into steemit instead but of course i didn't believe. I mean, how can you tell me I will get money just from putting up "quality contents " ( i thought ). Anyway, i decided to give it a try, after all I'm not going to lose anything (I thought again) in fact I'll be gaining more by challenging myself everyday and even rubbing minds with other intellectuals and keeping myself busy being productive. So I decided to give it a try and then I was directed to @jeline for further guidance. At this point I was still skeptical because I was almost sure @jeline was only helping me out because she needed referrals to complete a task or something of that sort but to my greatest surprise and amazement , she wasn't at all. She was and is still so helpful and patient with me... No strings attached.
I never expected or even imagined I could find people just that amazing, who do things out of a heart of love, people who are selfless, people who are willing to help you out of their own free will with no strings or conditions attached to it, people who have a hunger for teaching and even learning and the community has somehow succeeded in bringing people from different walks of life in one place to share ideas, motivate, help one another, and move forward working hand in hand.

Articulation still fails me at the moment because I'm awe as to how steemit has been amazing. For me right now, I don't even consider or focus on the money because doing that, I'll just get agitated... I'm more eager about learning new things, helping others know about this wonderful community called steemit and like I said earlier, imparting the world in the little way that I can through my posts, making new friends and having fun while at it....

Long live steemit!!! Long live steemians!!! Long live @futurethinker!!!

I am amazed by the same things. There are many abusers on this platform, but also many support movements. That is what makes Steemit so special and humantarian.

Hmmmm.... I believe so too..
Steemit is indeed special

Well done on being one of the contest winners!

My dad introduced me to steemit; I had no idea what it was or even tha tit was attached to a crypto currency. I really knew nothing about crypto at all!

I have enjoyed the contacts/friends I've made in my time on steemit (I joined with my original account @allstarrunner almost a year ago); but I actually have split feelings about the steemit platform - obviously I like the money aspect of it but I also don't like how the money aspect affects things; for instance, you sometimes question if someone is commenting because they actually like your post or if they are just hoping to get your upvote in return; It can be frustrating with all the bots around and voting on stuff (specifically crap posts getting lots of $ when supposedly "quality" is supposed to rise to the top) and see a post you spent a lot of time on only get 3 views after a week lol.

Anyway....I do like steemit and I think it has a bright future and i'm looking forward to making new friends through steemit!

Thank you for joining, now can you upvote me?

Joking :P I know what you mean. But I think those kinds of comments will always be there on a platform like Steemit.

I'm not really into crypto. At least, making money out of it isn't what motivates me. However, Steemit has shown that I can still benefit in other ways that may help me with what I'm trying to achieve.

I was living in Japan in 2011 when we had the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters. Long story short, I took 6 months off work to become an independent volunteer during the emergency and recovery phases. One of the things I looked into was ways of revitalising the local economy in a sustainable way (because most of the ideas floating around at the time were to simply recreate the same old recessionary model that they had before the disasters). This led me to do some online research on sustainability.

I came across materials that showed the interrelationships between economy, energy and environment. The energy part scared me, but the economy part really shocked me. I learned how money was created and saw that it was the root cause of so many of the major challenges facing society today.

I've spent the last 4 years learning what I can about the money system. I became head of an organisation called Fair Money Australia and part of my spare time is spent talking to economists who work for government, getting an understanding of where there are gaps in their knowledge and helping to fill them in. I have written correspondence from our central bank which proves that money is created every time the federal government spends and destroyed every time they collect taxes.

Last year, I spoke at the Long-Term Unemployment Conference in Brisbane and explained how to use the money system to end involuntary unemployment without having to increase taxes or make spending cuts elsewhere (I might make a video next week with the slides I used and post it on DTube).

Unemployment, poverty, unaffordable housing, diminishing access to education and healthcare... There are so many things that can easily be fixed once the mechanics of the money system are understood. A lot of the misunderstanding comes from a lack of knowledge about the difference between fixed and floating exchange rates (I'll make a post about that tomorrow).

I want to engage with people who care about these challenges. I want to empower people who are affected by them with knowledge, because then they can demand positive change.

The gamification of Steemit with cryptocurrency may provide me with the opportunity that I'm looking for. It rewards people for positive engagement and I'll reward them (when I have the SP) for being a part of my community and demonstrating that they've paid attention to the things that I think will help society.

What a determination! Yeah I agree steemit makes it possible to pay people for the work people need.

¡Saludos a todos y les deseo que la pasen muy bien en estas fiestas!
Congratulations to all the winners and their awesome stories.
Im looking foward to read you all.
Thanks to @futurethinker for this promo/contest in which everybody is sharing their votes, their stories and their love. A true Christmas spirit :D
I have not a really good story to tell this time, so Im gonna pass (it is as simple as I find out just in time when I was thinking of doing a page in facebook, but I honestly didn't feel enthusiastic about that social media platform anymore, so steemit appeared in the horizon. And it was awesome since then)

Glad to meet you and read you.

Jaja still nice of you of coming by @mokamisschievous!

Am so happy to have won this.
