Hello steemians, it's the season for joy and celebrations and I hope you are all in a cheerful mode. Unfortunately this year a lot of us haven't really been feeling the holiday spirit because of some issues we may be facing, maybe you just don't feel like celebrating this year or maybe you're just not into the holiday. Well I just want to try to remind us of what the holiday is about and maybe share the holiday spirit.
Christmas is a holiday that marks the birth of Christ but it's not just a Christian holiday, it's that time of the year when people get taken over by a cheerful spirit, try to spend more time with their families and loved ones, spread joy to those around them and feel good about themselves. It's a holiday that should be celebrated by everyone regardless of our race, ethnicity and differences in religious beliefs.
Jesus Christ was a symbol of love and peace, he never cared if you are white or black, male or female, rich or poor, he saw and treated everyone as equals, he gave his heart to everyone, even to those who hated him. His love was not just for his parents and his friends, it was for everyone and he hoped we would all do the same, to give our love to him and everyone around us.
Christmas is the season of giving love, the gifts we give only symbolizes that love. It shouldn't matter if you're broke there are other ways we can spread love without spending money on gifts, there are kind gestures too, no matter how insignificant you may think it is putting a little smile on someone's face says alot. It also shouldn't matter if you're not near the people you call your loved ones, it's all about your mindset so do something you enjoy doing or do something nice for someone else who needs it, you just might feel so much better inside after that.
Christmas also marks the last few days of the year as humans we have all had our shortcomings, imperfections and regrets through the year. This is the perfect time to let go of those burdens, relax better ourselves. As you show love to the people around you, do the same for yourself, use this opportunity to do something for yourself even if it's just taking a deep breath and relaxing it goes a long way for your physical and mental health.
We have people from different parts of the world on this platform and everyone has his/her own way of celebrating this holiday. I would love to know where you're from, what you're doing for Christmas eve and how you would love to celebrate Christmas, I'm from River state in Nigeria, I'll be home alone for Christmas eve watching movies and playing video games all night (skyrim, COD modern warfare 3 and NFS the run) and tomorrow I will hang out with my family for Christmas. Merry Christmas steemians.
