The holiday season is the time of year that most of us are celebrating with gifts and food. Every organization, society, or church ministry I belong to, had a Christmas Party that involved food and gifts. I baked a Carmel Cake , for my husband Motorcycle Ministry party, made a Peach Cobbler for my Red Hat Society Group party, smoked a turkey and made dressing for my Missionary Ministry party, then baked a Cream Cheese Pound Cake for my son-in-law's birthday.
Each event involved other foods where I was forced to make a choice of sticking to my Paleo Diet or eating everything in sight. I think I did pretty good by sticking to meat, vegetables, potatoes and few deserts that I just could not pass up. I even ordered the Vegetarian Plate at Mary Mac Tea Room, one of Atlanta's finest restaurant.
Being out of town during the Holidays makes it difficult to maintain your regular diet. So I decided to bring some of my paleo food with me , like my grain free paleo granola. I will post recipe later. I even baked a loaf of coconut flour bread with ingredients from Big Lots.
Sauteed vegetables were on the menu for last night's dinner along with roasted potatoes and rotisserie chicken, yum.
Now all I have to do is get through Christmas dinner cooked by some of best cooks in our family. We'll have all the usual dishes like turkey & dressing, ham, macaroni & cheese, green beans, greens, potato souffle, cakes, pies and all kinds of drinks to warm the soul.
To get by this Christmas I will just remember that Jesus is the reason for the season and that gluttony is a sin.
Merry Christmas to all.
