Persecution in the early church: They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. Acts 4:3

The Book of Acts tells how the first persecution of the early church began, after the Christian Pentecost where the disciples received the holy spirit in tongues of fire.
The disciples of Jesus were in Jerusalem and it was in the temple that Peter, accompanied by John, performed a miracle by curing a man paralyzed from birth, and after this sign, Peter made his second speech, with which the Book of Acts relates that many people embraced the faith.
Christianity was taking its first steps, and this seriously worried the religious authorities of the city, who had already crucified Jesus in the middle of a scandal.
The oppression towards the Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of the divine perfections, did not take long to manifest and the Book of Acts recounts what happened next:
"The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.
They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand" Peter 4:1-4.
With this serious fact, an important lesson was fulfilled: "My child, when you come to serve the Lord, prepare yourself for trials" Ben Sira 2:1. And this is so because in a world given over to error and greed, education is a commitment. Peter and John had to bear witness to Jesus and thus demonstrated that mature christians should not fear men but God.
The story ends by explaining that Peter and John were freed but not before having been threatened by the authorities, and upon returning to the other disciples, they prayed and were strengthened by the holy spirit.
