The Early Church: Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. Acts 2:43

The Book of Acts describes the times of the Early Church, times in which the gifts of the holy spirit were manifested with great power, because as Jesus taught with wisdom the true goal of man are not the apparent goods, like happiness or money, but instead the excellence or the beatitude: "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" Matthew 5:48.
The promises of Jesus had begun to be fulfilled with the celebration of Pentecost in which the disciples received the true inner teacher in tongues of fire. Promises that while Jesus was with his disciples on earth were not well understood, and this was because the promise of eternal life cannot be understood rationally. The spiritual gifts to be understood, must be experienced.
And so the Book of Acts after Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), to describe God's blessing on the first Christians, described one of the most evident gifts of the Kingdom of God, the empire or dominion of God's perfections, the life in common or communion, a spiritual life that is not based on concealment strategies and lies, but on the truth and the harmony of hearts.
And so with these words, the Book of Acts describes how life was lived in the Early Church, before the new faith left the holy land and the first conversions of the pagans occurred:
"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer.
Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. Now all the believers were together and held all things in common" Acts 2:42-44.
The Book of Acts highlights the fear of God or awe as the basis of life in common, a gift that should not be lost because it is this gift that gives the true meaning to the faith and the existence of the Church.
