Today is a review of one if my favorite cigar brand, La Gloria Cubana Maduro
First today I will pair it with an Apple Redd cidar as that I am not drinking any liquor today. I have paired this with this before and started to perfer it over whiskey or beer.
Now, let's get to it.
I pulled it out of my humidor and gave it a sniff in which it smelt of Spanish cedar that is in my humidor and notes of Coco and a little bit of hazel nut. I cut the crown off and did a cold draw that taste of Coco and a slight hint of dark chocolate mixed with hazelnut.
Lighting was very easy as I toasted it for about a minute and half to assure it had combusted full without drawing it while lighting. I gave it a nice soild pull and the smoke just bellowed into the roof of my mouth to a very pleasant taste of Coco mingled with hazelnut.
As always the first third is so pleasurable but the second third is what I always look forward to as the flavor change slightly. The coco is still the dominant triat of the cigar but what please me is the creamy nuttiness that is very noticeable as you drink your favorite beverage with this cigar no matter what it is.
This cigar takes about an hour and half to smoke when you take your time. The Maduro style cigar has a oil like presence in the smoke that I absolutely love and the smoke is always thick but not over powering.
The last thrid of this wonderful cigar is very smooth with a white peppery finish that is what I love cause it brings out the flavor of the Apple Redd I drink with it...
So why is it that I love this cigar so much........ it's the after taste it leaves when I'm done with the session of smoking this stick. I would say it leaves a nuttiness of the residue of the smoke in my mouth, but that is not the taste that is the dominant factor...... it's the slight new leather taste that lingers behind after you have smoked the cigar. Long after you are done with the cigar, the leather taste stays for a long time as you breathe out your nose to the pleasant taste of the slight leather mixed with the Coco taste in the cigar.
This is a great cigar to enjoy daily if you want because of the smoothness throughout the smoke of this stick. This brand is very sought after due to it's quality in the making of this cigar, now this cigar will cost you about $12.00- $14.00 depending on what size you get because there are different sizes.
