Disenchanted: not as interestingsteemCreated with Sketch.

Enchanted was an excellent self-parody of the unrealistic fair tale tropes. Sadly, this sequel spoils the parody element and isn't as interesting.

15 years after getting her happily ever after, Giselle moves to the suburbs with the whole family, where she thinks the family might be happier. Seeing that it failed, see uses the Wand of Wishes Edward gave her to make her world a fairy tale. Which, of course, backfires...

Whereas Enchanted was a self-parody, Disenchanted loss that ironic twist. Oh, there are some twists, but they are rather predictable when you understand fair tale 101. Be careful what you wish for...

As far as the actors' performance goes, losing that ironic twist has faded their performance. Dempsey looks uninterested and even oblivious to the fact that living in the 'burbs implies more traveling time. Of course, "they" had to talk about "work slavery." Only Morgan offered an interesting performance (before the fairy tale change). Her teenage attitude is accurate, and her desperation of trying to integrate a new place (with awful clothes) is relatable.

In short, Disenchanted is to watch at your own risk. It's a weak sequel to an excellent parody that just doesn't hold up to the original. I think I barely had a grin throughout.

Final rating: 2.5/5 (Morgan's desperation at Giselle's musicality is still funny)
