Marry Me: an OK Rom-ComsteemCreated with Sketch.

It was Valentine's Day this week, so we decided to watch a rom-com. This was on top on Prime Video, so we took a look. Last year's choice was better, but Marry me is still worth a look.

A famous pop singer (J Lo) and her singing fiancé (Maluma) will get married in front of their audience. But as the fiancé's flirtiness gets uncovered right on the day of their marriage, she decides to marry a nobody (a math teacher) and then learns to like him...

It's a rom-com, so the finale is highly predictable (well... not entirely). And the execution isn't the best one. For example, the songs we hear are awfully primitive with a lot of repetitions. And why is it that children are always so witty in movies?

But I loved Luke Wilson's attitude in the movie. He's completely clueless about J lo, he has a flip phone and isn't on social medias. But he's completely dedicated to his math club and tries to be supportive of his daughter inside his divorce. And J Lo's character is strangely candid about how artificial an artist's life is.

In short, while not the best of its kind, Marry Me is still worth a watch if you want a romcom. It has all the tropes you're looking for, plus a few interesting commentaries.
