1.0 Introduction
In this age and time when there are lots of technological and scientific breakthroughs in the developed world, there is sadly, an opposite movement or retrogression in the underdeveloped parts of the world. One would think that these technological advancements would have carried everyone along, especially as the world is now seen as a global village but that dream is yet to be realized.
The UN has several goals outlined to be achieved before year 2030 and for the underdeveloped countries, especially in the African continent, these goals are as yet not at 20% fulfilment.
These goals include but are not limited to:
Healthy lives and well-being for all at all ages, Access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy, Construction of robust infrastructure, promotion of sustainable
industrialization and fostering of innovation and Sustainable cities and communities. There's no better way to achieve these goals than to engage in best smart city projects

The blockchain technology have since it's launch, revolutionized how people and businesses interact with each other. By providing a trustless, transparent, distributed and decentralized ecosystem, it has completely removed the human factor and middlemen from P2P, P2B and B2B transactions while at the same time lowering costs of transactions and increasing profits for parties involved.
Also, the Advent of Internet of Things, IoT and Artificial Intelligence, AI have heralded a new way of life and interaction for humans and machines.
Now, what if there's a project that combines the decentralized nature of blockchain and the dynamic IoT and AI technologies with the aim of helping actualize the UN goals of better and safer life for all?
2.0 Introducing CitiOS
CitiOS is a blockchain powered project aimed at helping society find solutions for energy related and environmental issues, solve regional conflicts, allow people to live safely and productively and help them use impartial and fair communication networks to create wealth.
In line with the above mandate, the CitiOS blockchain technology has a number of applications through which it proposes to achieve the above listed aims. Before we go into the applications, it's pertinent to note that CitiOS project utilizes a unique model where AI and IoT technologies are combined to give the very best in monitoring, data collection and analysis at the barest minimal energy investment.
2.1 CitiOS Blockchain Technology Solutions - Applications
2.1.1 Structural Health Monitoring for Infrastructure
One of the most feared and common natural disasters are earthquakes due to its tendency to cause extensive damages to Infrastructure in addition to loss of lives. It has become increasingly necessary to carry out structural health monitoring on Infrastructures but with the astronomical increase in on-ground infrastructure and the aging of existing ones, the traditional SHM methods are becoming redundant in relation to the challenge posed by earthquakes.
CitiOS has designed a dynamic blockchain based SHM system that is information-driven and shifts focus from tedious manual engineering verification to automatic and energy saving means.
2.1.2 Street Lighting
Another application of the CitiOS blockchain technology is in providing street lights. But, unlike the traditional streetlights with singular purpose of providing lights, the CitiOS streetlight has multiple features via AI camera that can capture and identify multiple objects at once, providing of wireless network plus ability to generate signal and transfer data on its own LoRa network, function efficiently using solar energy which gives up to 90 hours of usage time and just 9 hours charge up time and lastly, provision of power during emergencies and to those who may need it.
All the above mentioned features inherent in the unique CitiOS Street light and SHM systems are made possible by the use of AIOt.
2.3 Paradigm Shift - The AIoT Revolution
The Artificial Intelligence of Things AIoT is the brain behind the unique features of the CitiOS blockchain technology applications and is the combination of AI and IoT into one entity.
The sensors in the CitiOS Structural Health Monitoring systems are equipped with AIoT chips which lower significantly, the cost of installation, provides an open ecosystem that encourages more services, distributed AIoT architecture as opposed to the central server control obtained on the traditional SHM and data marketplace support without mandatory hardware purchase.
On the CitiOS street light project, the AIoT streetlights are self powered, have no need to be connected to an electricity grid as they run solely on solar (thereby perfect for installation in underdeveloped countries), AI function equipped cameras, digital evidence captured and stored immutably on the blockchain and, extremely cost effective installation globally.
3.0.In Conclusion
The CitiOS blockchain technology project is geared towards helping countries and people achieve the UN objectives and goals for the year 2030 by improving safety, access to clean and reusable green power and providing a means of fair creation of wealth that is accessible to all so as to cut down on the gap between the rich and the poor. More importantly, people in the rural communities (even those without electricity) stand to gain more from the CitiOS applications especially the multifaceted street lighting project.
