Ponce Puerto Rico

in cityscapephotography •  7 years ago

Here is some cool pictures taken a little while back of Ponce in the south side of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, the view is from the Don Q (Puerto Rico's local and very tasty rum) castle owned by the Serrallés family, that is also the name of the castle itself. Ponce is also known for it's great musicians of salsa music.

I actually went to San Juan and the Carolina area of PR before the Hurricane. Old San Juan is really old and feels very Colonial, like if you went back in time. Have you been to that side of the island??

yes sir!!! a few times, my wife is from there :) that is also where I keep my surfboards since where I live there ain't much surfing going on :(
I loved old town as well, there is not much bad things that I can say about the island in general :) just a great spot really, thank you for your input and keep in touch

The food there is amazing. I think I gained 10lbs in 1 week =) Mofongo is amazing. I stayed at the Ritz so it was very close to some amazing restaurants!!!!

mofongo is great!!!! yes! very easy to get some serious weight very quick there! hahha

nice

stay tuned for more cool places :)

Awesome trip! great place to visit!

Hey Marcel....so you live in Puerto Rico? I have never been to that part of the world but everything I had seen looks lovely. I am not much of a rum many myself (though I dare so I could be swayed) I am more a single malt scotch kind of guy. Some of the vegetation in the first couple of photos look very similar to some of the stuff that grows here in Tonga (I could not begin to tell you what they are as I am completely illiterate when it comes to plants). By the look at the depth of the colour green you too have plenty of rain (the likes of which I spoke of in my previous reply to you. I can't help but notice another similarity with outer places of the world.......The people who make various types of alcohol end up living big impressive buildings :) anyway take care matey and cheers for now J

mister Jeff!!! welcome back!!! So I prefer scotch myself as well!!! hahaha I do not live in Puerto Rico, my wife was born and raised there so we go every now and then... Tonga!!! all it comes to my head is Rugby!!!! I played rugby in my youth in southern Brazil... yes some vegetation and fruits that you will find all over with different names shapes a sizes but the same! :) once again thanks for stopping by and keep in touch!!!

Good to hear that you are a single malt man, I think that means that you are a man of honour and integrity (Have you ever had the chance to go to Scotland?). Rugby is a religion here! Being here through the world cup over the past few months was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. The people here are gorgeous, the were celebrating the shear joy of the competition even when they were robbed and knocked out in the semi final by a disallowed (strip tackle) try within the last min of the game. I am sure, now that I know that you are Brazilian, you can understand the concept of a sport being a religion. I am not religious in any aspect of the word (except for the fact that I worship my wife and family and friends). I played a bit of rugby also when growing up but where I originally come from football was the closest thing to a religion when it comes to a sport, you either went to church at Anfield (Liverpool) or Goodison Park (Everton) every Saturday. Ironically I now find myself living in an incredibly religious (as in God and Rugby) country but on the street (if you can call it a street) with the only football pitches on the island, and although the streets have no names here (no really, its not just an opportunity for a random U2 reference, the streets really have no names) I find myself living on what the locals refer to as FIFA Street as thats who donated the money for the pitch. I will keep in touch & like wise you do the same. You take care cheers for now J.

Everton!!!! funny!!!! my brother in law and I follow them as a form of keeping up with English league of football(soccer here in the USA) and how could you say that I like single malt? blended whisky is not good enough? hahahaha YES!!! I prefer single malts to be honest :) thank you for the input and keep in touch my friend :) cheers!

EVERTON??????? And I thought that this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship......I will obviously have to reconsider my position ......even if you are a single malt man! Cheers J

I cheer for a small Brazilian team that you probably have never even heard of in your life, hahaha Avai F.C. has been mainly in the Brazilian 2nd division of soccer(football) Everton is just a reminder of how upsetting the game can be by having the team that you follow loosing ALL THE TIME! hahahahaha

I can completely relate. I lived in Australia for a long time (and will be going back there at the end of the year). In Australia they play a game that you may not be familiar with called Australian Rules Football (Aussie Rules) It is like a mix between, Rugby, Football and full contact martial arts!! it is awesome. I follow a team called Carlton and .....yep I know what it is like to follow a team that always looses.....but they do so with such heart. If you have never seen any Aussie Rules then I suggest that you have a look. The rules are very confusing but, once you get your head around it, it is a great game. The atmosphere at the games is fantastic.....and family friendly. BUT IT IS NOTHING LIKE BEING IN THE COP AT ANFIELD!!!! Cheers J

so I have watched a documentary about an ex american football player trying to join Carlton hahahah funny!!! you keep on bringing memories to my mind! I quite enjoy your inputs here Jeff, thank you so much for staying connected!!! let me know if you ever come to the USA capital, you have earn a drink!!! :) cheers

Thanks for you help in my post

sure!!! keep in tocuh!!! :)
