On a cold, 5 degree (celsius), Sydney morning i made my way into the city to shoot a clients car. I decided to head in early and do some exploring while the city slept. I'm glad i did as i couldve missed my chance to capture the sun rising behind the sails of the Sydney Opera House.
This is my entry into the #cityscapephotography contest held by @juliank
We've all seen photos of this iconic building. But we've never seen it captured this uniquely and beautifully!
In this photo, it looks like it never looked before. The only way I could recognize it is from its distinct shape. The perspective, the colour, the setting, the lighting are all new and brilliant.
And the sky! It's perfect for this photo.

Thank you so much for your kind words. At first i was bummed that the sun was hidden by clouds, but the more i looked at the image, i realized it shows the shape better and allows the lighting to show of its curves

Yes, good point. It's much better without the sun. And just now, I noticed how there's a bit of grey shading in the upper corners, which make the wide swath of off-white sky into a perfect frame that reflects the overall curvature of the structure.
It's almost like the Opera House is surrounded by a large halo. Not sure how you got that, or even if it was intentional. But it works a tiny wonder.

Beautiful shot! where did you stand when shooting this one? I was there a few days ago and took some photos of the opera house from the fast-moving ferry, but not so good as yours.

Thank you @itchyfeetdonica. I was standing at the end of the Overseas Passenger Terminal (and freezing my butt off hahaha). Yeah, taking shots from the ferry can be a little tricky, but sometimes can get decent results
