Forward to the past (vol.28). Leningradskaya square

Leningradskaya Square - the intersection of the main highways of the city.

Strangely enough, this central intersection indirectly affected the appearance of a natural park on the other bank of the Irtysh.

Until the 1950s, the intersection of the streets of Marx and Maslenikov was an ordinary place, but everything changed in the year 59 after the construction of the Leningrad Bridge was completed.

It was during the construction of the bridge, for the dam of the road, that the soil was taken from the adjacent territory. So along the Irtysh in place of the old bed (Zamarayki) formed a foundation pit, which for half a century turned into a natural-anthropogenic park where migratory birds rest.
This park is visible to the right of the bridge and I plan to talk about it tomorrow separately.

The photo was made in the frost at 30 degrees with a good wind, so I miscalculated and stood on the meter to the right than I had to. But I think that the floating roof of a neighboring house will not hurt much.
