Wenn ich hier ein bisschen Klugscheißen dürfte: Es handelt sich nicht um Sand aus der Sahara, der durch Sandstürme zu uns getragen wird, sondern um Schluff (feiner und leichter als Sand) der durch Staubstürme zu uns gelangt. Sand ist nämlich zu schwer um so weite Distanzen zurücklegen zu können.

Die Ablagerungen kommen eh aus der Sahara, aber es handelt sich nicht um Sand (zu schwer) sondern Schluff (feiner und daher leichter). ;-)
