Do you follow @juliankphotography ithink and he has contests. This one is insane!!!

Thanks, dear! And YES! I've been entering his contests since I first joined Steemit! This was actually for that, but I'm wondering if perhaps he's changed the subjects – usually the bot recognizes the entries and comments/upvotes.

Seems that it recognizes but not always comments.
I didn't get the pattern yet, but I'm pretty sure it counts the photos that wasn't commented by bot.

Whoa! that's a lot of dust! How did the camera ended?? haha. Great shot!

It was a particularly dusty morning, even for the playa! And, yes...my camera survives. I used to try all sorts of things to protect it, then finally decided to trust and have been going 'bareback' since 2012. ;)

SUch a great shot. Thank goodness for sealed cameras. Still though - that fine dust would be havok.

Thanks @jfolkmann! You'd be surprised how well they handle. Of course, I'm shooting with a markiii and only prime lenses – so not a lot of moving parts. And I'm pretty careful about how and when I switch lenses. Zoom lenses suffer much more as the super fine alkaline dust gets in there and can never really be cleaned out.

I spent couple of months this year shooting dogs for animal shelter, and now my 135/2L needs to visit repair center ... looks like dirt affects AF motor :(

That dusty haze is such a cool effect! Really cool shot.

Resteemed!

Thanks so much, guys! Glad you like it! :)

How do you keep all the dust from infesting your equipment? Awesome shot!

Ha! Well, the simple answer is – you don't. As I've mentioned above, after many years of fumbling with various methods of dust-protection, I finally made the leap to 'bareback' in 2012. I decided to trust my gear's ability to handle it. As I only shoot with pro-level gear – an EOS 5D Markiii body and L-series prime lenses, exclusively – the dust isn't really that much of an issue. It would be a very different story if I used zoom lenses. They don't do so well out there!

Gotcha, that makes sense. I don't know if I'd be so brave to bring out my best gear in that environment, since I'd be too scared. You obviously made it worth it with these awesome shots, though!
