Martin Luther King: An Icon's Unintended Harm

One can revere Martin Luther King as a great human being. This is perfectly understandable yet there is also another side to the efforts that he made and the “so called” progress he instilled in our American culture. Let’s review some of the negative that has resulted from a great man, Martin Luther King.

One of the first questions one can ask is what did his movement do which harmed minorities. One would expect a look of disgust if posed with that question, however, damage, as well as good were done.

Dr. King made it clear that “he had a dream”. Do dreams all come true. Was he a dreamer? Of course, it was not how he intended his words to be interpreted, however, in many walks of life that is the exact manner in which they were interpreted The man or woman of color was marginalized and separated from the masses and the slow assimilation was forced upon peoples who were ignorant of the fact that it is of no matter what color a person’s skin color is. He made it an issue, one which was in full force but one which was fading. Only a small percentage of people owned slaves, many of the remainder much against the idea of such human bondage. The remainder of persons hatred of the black man and woman was due to pure ignorance and fear brought to light by the wealthy class of whites who needed to pit the two against one another to distract the masses from the reality of the separation of the races.

In conclusion, the lack of an enclave and the marginalization has kept the races separate longer than what should normally be expected. And lastly... "Follow the Money".
