Civility

Why have so many people’s brains stopped thinking. Or are we devolving into a lower order of animals? I think it’s the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics…something about the natural order will end up in chaos. I just thought we might possibly be a few billion years from that. As the New World Order temporarily loses momentum, all around us I see people unwilling or incapable of being respectful to each other, of being civil…not in the new order meaning of civility (censorship) but in the old world order meaning decency. Allow me to provide several examples. There was a video of a lady walking her bike across a dark road and as she appears out of the blackness, she is hit by a policeman whose squad car video captures it all. One feels bad for all parties watching the incident except for the web message board’s writers with idiotic comments like “and it was such a nice bike.” Or in Brazil, there was that guy who felt entitled to race his car right through the middle of a group of bicyclists. These really are not funny; they are just uncivil. Look at the anti-president election riots. People who are hired demonstrators get paid to go screaming, name calling, and yelling obscenities. And fight with each other when they are supposed to be (theoretically) on the same side of opposing the election results. Some have given the rioters a pass claiming they have first amendment rights. They do to speak but not to be vandals or to be blocking traffic and hurting police. This is not politics, its war. It goes both ways, too. The president-elect is no role model of civility either! Hopefully, he is truly humbled by the honor bestowed upon him and he will rise to the occasion. In Dallas, a few years ago a Commissioner gets flustered because he is called out for corruption and being Black, he repetitively tells the audience in court “You’re white…go to hell.” So he was not only corrupt, but also racist (except that nonwhites can't be racist by the PC standards). But pulling for political traction, he accuses as racists those calling him out for corruption. We have national leaders who refuse to uphold the law and even promoted illegal voting. Another who has no fear in stating that his race is “his people” when as a national authority "his" people are "all Americans." We have beautiful bumper stickers telling us to “coexist” but how does one coexist with radicalized fanatics that have the stated singular goal of eliminating the infidel? Strange, we are at war with a radicalized enemy, one hellbent on destroying our way of life (one based on prosperity and abundance attainable by anyone willing to work- we can ignore cronyism for the sake of this discussion), and we do not recognize the real battles but choose to behave rudely and dangerously toward one another. If we would all learn from the many examples provided by history, we would choose to be civil. We can agree to disagree. Our mission on this planet, as shown by history, is to live in love and service in our spheres of influence. It is quite simple to state but obviously very difficult to live out. We can all start by acting with civility in our homes and neighborhoods and communities. There will always be evil, but when the masses are behaving in the same ethical cesspool as the evildoers, we are in serious jeopardy. This post could go on and on with examples of incivility but you get the point, I hope. To your health and vitality!
