3.In addition to the possibility of optimism, we also need to be aware of the possibility that extraterrestrial civilizations are hostile or self-interested. They may see our planet as a threat or a resource and want to destroy us or plunder us. First of all, we could be hit by their weapons and viruses. These extraterrestrial civilizations must be more advanced in science and technology than we are, otherwise they would not be able to detect and spy on us. If they want to destroy us or conquer us, then they will certainly use their weapons and viruses against us. Secondly, we may lose our freedom and dignity.
