After a substantial hiatus, I'm back to listening to classical music again. My listening habits had gone more mainstream for the past couple of weeks, which partly explains the lack of a "Friday Night Classical" post by me.
This time around, I have been re-visiting some old classics. While the classical music world certainly has no lack of old classics, there are a few pieces that I go back to time and again.
The Chaconne, allegedly composed by Tomaso Antonio Vitali, and played by Jascha Heifetz in the recording above is one such piece. A fun fact about the piece is that we are doubtful about whether the piece was actually even composed by Vitali, or even in the Baroque period for that matter. But regardless of when it was composed or by whom, this piece remains a favourite among violinists even till this day.
Have a listen and I think you'll be able to see why.
Beautiful piece. I certainly do not listen to enough classical music and I am going to try to look out for your recommendations as I am loving this!
