Claudio Giovanni Antonio Monteverdi is an Italian composer, string player, choir leader and pastor. He is a composer of both secular and sacred music, and a pioneer in the development of opera, and is considered a crucial transitional figure between the music history of the Renaissance and the Baroque period.

Monteverdi was born in Cremona, where he conducted his first batch of music research and composition, his career first in the court of Mantua (circa 1590-1613) ) Unfolded, and then until his death in the Republic of Venice, where he served as the a cappella master of the cathedral San Marco. His suicide note gave people an insight into the life of professional Italian musicians at the time, including income, sponsorship and political issues.

Most of Monteverdi's works, including many stage works, have been lost. His surviving music includes nine books about rig husbands, large-scale religious works such as "Vespro della Beata Vergine" (Vespers Blessing the Virgin) from 1610 and three complete operas. His opera "Orfeo" (L'Orfeo, 1607) was the earliest opera and is still widely used today. At the end of his life, he created works for Venice, including Il ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria and L'incoronazione in Poppea.

He worked extensively in the polyphonic tradition of the early Renaissance, which was proven in his husband, but he made considerable progress in form and melody, and began to adopt baroque basso continuous playing techniques. No stranger to controversy, he defended his sometimes novel technique as an element of the second school, in sharp contrast to the more traditional earlier style he called the primitive school. During most of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, his works were widely forgotten, and at the beginning of the twentieth century, his works were rediscovered. He is now identified as an important influential person in the history of European music, and a composer who regularly composes and records records.
