Today I took a small #cleanplanet walk, collecting a few hands full of street litter and dumping them in the nearest public trashcan.

One of the things you will find a lot of are disposable plastic bottles.

The caps on these bottles are mostly made of polypropylene and/or polyethylene. These materials are fairly easily recycleble and where I live (in the Netherlands) there are a bunch of charities that collect these bottlecaps, they then recieve up to 20 cents a kilogram for the collected bottlecaps. So when I go out on a cleanplanet I usually remove the bottlecaps and take them home for these charities. Not sure if other countries have similar arrangements but it might be worthwhile to look into it.
