When a Voip account is hired to make calls, we find that the various providers speak of terms such as "gray routes", "GSM route", "white route", "premium routes", "CLI routes", "direct routes", and many other terms that can confuse users.
We copy this note with the aim of clarifying some concepts that allow Users to obtain the best of voip technology.
GRAY ROUTE:
It is usually called gray to what is not white (legal) or black (illegal). They are usually call terminations made with mobile cellular lines (SIM cards) or with fixed lines (which do not have legal authorization for such call termination operation).
Advantages for the user of Gray Route:
- Extremely low prices per minute
- Free virtual platform for resale of minutes, free feeder and multiple free and open source based modules.
- Platforms based on asterisk, elastisk, trixbox, a2billing, non-licensed voipswitch, have no software cost and have multiple modules. This is an advantage for its extremely low price or free in many cases. However, this implies risks that generate disadvantages for the user. We suggest that you hire a company that has ample proven experience in the use of these open source platforms and NEVER contract with a “pirate” or “unlicensed” platform because you can be the victim of hackers and theft of your data and money.
DIRECT ROUTE:
A DIRECT voip route is an interconnection between telecommunications companies that allows you to complete calls with maximum audio quality and transmits the originating telephone number to the final destination (CLI). To get the best service follow CLI routes provider.
Direct routes have a property that differentiates them from other routes or terminations: CLI.
CLI are the initials of “Calling Line Identification”. CLI represents the telephone number of the party originating the call (A). This may be a complete telephone number or a part thereof, depending on the carrier or telecommunications company. In communications originating from a voip account it is very frequent that the CLI direct route shows the login number of that voip account on the destination telephone device. If that voip account has an associated DID (real telephone number) the destination could receive that number as the origin of the call.
GSM ROUTE:
GSM Route is a route that ends traffic using mobile cell lines (SIM Cards). These SIM Cards are installed in GSM gateway equipment and allow N calls to be terminated simultaneously depending on the number of channels of the equipment installed for this purpose.
PREMIUM ROUTE:
Route “PREMIUM” is a mixture of routes that group the best available terminations in each country.
Because not all countries allow termination from VoIP to PSTN, through direct interconnection of IP telephone exchanges, PREMIUM routes have direct routes with CLI for some countries and GSM or indirect routes for countries of difficult access or with extreme restrictions for voip.
STANDARD ROUTE:
Some voip providers use the term "standard route" to imply that these are economic routes for those who give more importance to price than quality. This term is quite subjective and confuses the user since it is not known for sure what quality it is that they offer and what quality statistics these routes have.
