Climate change looms as the greatest threat human societies have ever faced. Impacts on health, food security, and migration have the potential to be hugely disruptive over coming decades. This presentation will cover the basics of what’s driving our changing climate and how things in Northland, New Zealand, and the globe have changed already. We will look at a range of future climates and what we as individuals can do to help steer the climate system towards safer shores.
James Renwick has over 30 years’ experience in weather and climate research. He is currently Professor of Physical Geography at Victoria University, specializing in large-scale climate variations.
In support of the proposed Te Haa o te Ao “Breath of the World” sculpture by Chris Booth at the entrance of Kerikeri: a greeting, a climate change signal involving school children, a tourist icon, a cooperation of Maori & Pakeha, an outstanding piece of living art.
