Climate Change Is Real Here's Why

  1. Current CO2 atmospheric concentrations are racing past 400ppm and climbing steadily- precise ice core samples going back 800,000 years show us a normal cycled trend of 180ppm low and 280ppm high.

  2. 2014 was the hottest year on record.. until 2015. However, 2016 was even hotter. In fact, globally every month of 2016 has been the hottest in recorded history. Globally 13 of the last 16 years have been the warmest years on record.

  3. The build up of CO2 has caused mass extinction events in Earth history (Permian Mass Extinction)- 4 out of 5 of the largest mass extinction events on Earth involve the build up of greenhouse gases.

  4. Human activities emit more then 60 times the amount of carbon dioxide released by volcanoes each year.

  5. Obvious observations;
    Ocean acidification
    Sea level rise
    Global temperature rise
    Warming oceans
    Glacial retreat
    Record flooding
    Record fires
    Vanishing Arctic sea ice
    Searing drought
Vast bleaching of the Great Barrier Reef
More intense weather (hurricanes, tornadoes, storms)
    Just to name a few..

  6. Every reputable educational body and scientific institution on Earth backs the fact that man made climate change is real, happening and caused by human activity, even in the U.S.

  7. Science denying republican congressman have taken in well over $75,000,000 over their careers from the oil industry and special interest groups to spread misinformation, propaganda and lies to the American people. In congress republicans have voted down every meaningful legislation ever put up to address global warming.

  8. Thousands of scientific findings and conclusions from currently active climate scientists from around the world have had publications that have passed the peer-review process. An overwhelming majority of these publications support the reality of man made climate change.

  9. Our current warming is clearly attributed to our carbon emissions. We can see this because of the change in carbon isotopes in the atmosphere, which shows a clear human origin. The warming of the past 100 plus years is clearly and unequivocally caused by man. There is not a major national scientific body in the world that disputes this.

Again.. This reality is supported by every major reputable scientific institution, just to name a few:

Nasa

Royal Academies for Science and the Arts of Belgium

Académie des Sciences, France

The geological society of America

Academy of the Royal Society of New Zealand

American chemical society

Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, Italy

American association for the advancement of science

American geophysical union

International Arctic Science Committee

American medical association

American meteorological society

European Science Foundation

American physical society

German Academy of Natural Scientists Leopoldina

U.S. national academy sciences

Canadian Foundation for Climate and Atmospheric Sciences

U.S. Global change research program

International Research Institute for Climate and Society

Chinese Academy of Sciences

National Academy of Sciences, United States of America

British Antarctic Survey

Intergovernmental panel on climate change

... And literally hundreds of other highly reputable organizations from every corner of the planet, made up of thousands of climatologists which has resulted in an irrefutable collective consensus north of 95%... the debate has been over for awhile now, you missed it. Man made climate change is real, happening and caused by human activity.

So, you're saying it's man made, but it caused mass extinction 250 million years ago? I have the perfect response https://steemit.com/libertarian/@endplunder/the-moral-and-ethical-case-for-fossil-fuels-is-there-global-warming-idk-but-i-have-ac

Thanks for posting this! Its good to get the terms and facts straight on this topic!

I feel that many people (especially Climate Change Deniers) focus too much on carbon dioxide and the term 'Global Warming' when considering use of Coal and other fuels. The bigger issue to me are things like air pollution and 1000's of premature deaths in many of the most developed cities in the world.

Global Warming should really be referred to as Climate Change much more often since that ecnompases much more of the story.

So here's the real story that everyone just seems to ignore! Whilst people are debating and denying whether or not Climate Change is linked to Human activities, they are missing the real issue! The real issue is that more people die of respiratory disease in the world than from terrorist attacks. Smog and pollution is a serious problem and there is a pretty long list of other effects too! if I asked you to guess how many people worldwide die from air pollution I wonder what you would say. WHilst this is a very hard number to accurately estimate, it is accepted now that upto .. wait for it .... 5.5 MILLION deaths* worldwide occur per year due to air pollution!!! And people are still debating over CO2??? Something very strange going on here!

We have to realize that is is inevitable that sooner or later fossil fuels will run out.. If we look at the state of the Climate today and take heed of the many and varied warnings we are receiving there is not much to deny! We cant keep growing and consuming exponentially whilst were on the same planet! Ask any bacteria and it will confirm this!.. At some point you just run out everything and its all gets very messy and nasty! We have to change the way we do things. The good news is that the alternatives are already out there, and there are even MANY options!

What alternatives?

I have mentioned the best options in this post, but some other options include:

Biomass. Biomass or bio-energy, the energy from organic matter for thousands of years, ever since people started burning wood to cook food. ...
Biogas. ...
Tidal Energy. ...
Wind Energy. ...
Geothermal Energy. ...
Radiant Energy. ...
Hydro Electricity. ...
Compressed Natural Gas.
