Bouldering at Fort Purbrook

in climbing •  6 years ago

Its a total of 700 square feet of quality bouldering underground!

It is a Fort in Hampshire, near Portsmouth and its features include 45 degree panels, two waves, slabs, cracks, arêtes and an eight-foot roof section all made of granite.

Although it tears your flesh, theres nothing quite like it.

As its located underground in the cellars, its nice and cold in the Summer, but of course BALTIC in the Winter haha.

You have to walk through these underground tunnels to get to the climbing rooms.

It can be eerie as shit at night if you go on your own and your the last one to leave, turning off the lights behind you.

There is literally fuck all to hold on to on some parts of the wall, so finger strength is required.

This place can get busy in the evenings, particularly in the Winter as the UK has such shite weather.

We hit it at lunch time as we were working over this way, and we had the room to ourselves.
