UKAY-UKAY CLOTHES: GOOD ALTERNATIVE FOR THOSE WHO ARE TIGHT ON BUDGET

Ever since I got a son, I learn how to save and how to spend money only on those things that are important. When I was still single and earning for my own self, I love to shop so much. I could really tell that I am a materialistic type of person. Every time I have money, I would directly go to the mall and buy new clothes and shoes. Those are my passion before. But now that I am married, I realize how important it is to save and how important money is to the family.

I still love to shop dresses and shoes but this time I don’t go to the malls. I am so thankful that thrift stores have been created. This time, I usually go to the thrift stores or what we call (ukay-ukay) here in the Philippines to buy clothes for the family. It is a very good alternative if you like to shop for clothes but you are tight on budget. Some people use this but their fashion sense was so good. I mean, when you look at them you can’t really tell that their dresses came from UK (ukay-ukay) because of the good quality of the clothes.

Just a little while ago, I went to the market. I passed along at a thrift store and saw very good and affordable clothes. I am so glad I was able to buy a new pant for only Php 65. It is on trend as the pants is what we called tattered jeans. I was able to buy a new set of clothes for my husband too (a short and a shirt), both are branded for only Php 50 each. How amazing is it, right? I was able to buy 3 items for only Php165 only. If I go to the mall on that amount, I could only buy 1 piece of dress.

I love buying ukay-ukay even with my son. I don’t think it is bad as what others say. Some think that ukay-ukay is a dirty dress. I think if we will just wash it properly it will be as good as new.
