Cloudy Gloomy Day Showers Warm Humid Friday
Weather conditions are rather grim sky wise this afternoon with lots of clouds around and there have been a few showers or some patchy drizzle showing up from place to place and from time to time. Temperatures have been holding mostly in the upper 60s to lower 70s with the wind at least partially off the ocean.
2PM TEMPERATURES & WIND
The cloud cover on the satellite is rather extensive. Dry air covers much of Eastern & Northern New England but unlike yesterday, that dry air is not pushing southward today. A warm front to the south is moving northeastward which will transition us into a warm and humid Friday.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Radars are showing some light rain showers nearby and some heavier showers and thunderstorms to the west in Pennsylvania moving slowly east. While most of the time through tonight it won't be raining, a shower or downpour cannot be ruled out. Otherwise it will be cloudy with temperatures holding mostly in the 60s overnight.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Friday will be warm and humid with highs reaching the mid to upper 80s inland and in the mid 70s to near 80 along the coast. Clouds will give way to some sunshine and there could be some downpours late in the day and in the evening as a cold front nears.
Saturday begins the decent into the onshore flow thanks to the blocking in the North Atlantic. It will take a little while to get going on Saturday and there will be some downpours around but some areas could see some dry stretches as well. Temperatures will be in the 70s. The ocean wind kicks in Sunday with lots of clouds and on and off rain. Temperatures will be just into the 60s. Those conditions continue into Monday and Tuesday of next week with low pressure off the Delaware coast that will be slow to move.
GFS RAINFALL FORECAST
Weather models show a generous amount of rain possible from Friday through Tuesday with much of the area from Maryland to Southern New England in a 2 to 4 inch rain area. Spread out over 5 days this might not necessarily be problematic but it is a good soaking that occurs.
