This could have ended very much badly for so many people in Mauritius today...
I call the situation we experienced today as simply Catastrophic!!!
Since some days now we all have been reading on the different weather apps that a cyclone is around our region and both Mauritius and Reunion Island are at risk of being hit!
Reunion Island was directly hit and the authorities there took the actions as they should...
And despite the violent cyclonic winds over there, we did not see that much damages as that of Mauritius!!!
Total failure of the authorities, the system, the government!
While Reunion Island confined its population since yesterday afternoon, here in Mauritius none of the top level governing bodies saw the importance to keep our population in safety at home!
Instead...the working population was called to work this morning!
Panic as from 9.30am-10am!!!
This is where things started to get bad in Mauritius, Cyclone Belal moved slightly to our direction and boom...it was so much rain and violent winds and gusts!
If everyone was at home, we would not have seen so many people and transport trapped in the floods!
Tomorrow we will be more clear if there were any casualties...
We know about one man who died on the main road where we had the floods, and still waiting to know more about this incident.
While we also have reports of people getting washed away in rivers and sea. Nothing is confirmed, but we need to wait for the morning tomorrow to know more.
Still under the violent winds right now!
As I write this post, Mauritius is under cyclone warning class 3 and the violent winds will continue until at least tomorrow afternoon!
Well it all depends on Belal - the cyclone that took us all by surprise because of the failure of the authorities that we the population have chosen to work for us!!!
Discover the catastrophe my country went through today and we still have the night to go...
Let the photos do the rest of the talking...
From my side, my families, my friends and all those I know and my neighbors too are safe.
