Introduction

Dear Steemit Moderators and Community,

I am pleased to submit my application for Season 23 of the Steemit Learning Challenge as a solo instructor under the pseudonym @kouba01. My course proposal focuses on Computer Maintenance and Troubleshooting, covering both software and hardware issues. The goal is to provide participants with essential technical skills to diagnose, repair, and optimize computer systems effectively.

This course is designed for individuals who want to develop a strong foundation in computer maintenance, whether they are beginners looking to acquire practical skills or experienced users who want to refine their troubleshooting techniques.

Course Overview: Computer Maintenance & Troubleshooting (Software & Hardware)

This course will guide learners through the fundamental and advanced aspects of diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining computer systems. It will cover topics such as:

  • Basic Hardware Components (Motherboard, CPU, RAM, Storage, PSU, GPU)
  • Common Hardware Issues & Fixes (Overheating, Power Failures, Boot Issues, Faulty Peripherals)
  • Operating System Installation & Optimization (Windows, Linux, Common Errors & Fixes)
  • Virus & Malware Removal (Identifying and Eliminating Threats, Securing Systems)
  • BIOS/UEFI Configuration & Firmware Updates
  • Data Recovery Techniques & Backup Strategies

Each weekly lesson will combine theory and hands-on exercises, allowing participants to apply the knowledge gained through real-world troubleshooting scenarios.

Experience and Expertise

Academic & Professional Background

  • Master’s Degree in Management Information Systems from the Higher Institute of Management of Tunis.
  • Certified Computer Science Teacher in secondary schools since 2007.
  • Intel Trainer since 2010, specializing in integrating technology into education.

Technical & Teaching Experience

  • 17+ years of teaching experience, covering programming, system administration, and IT troubleshooting.
  • Expert in diagnosing and repairing hardware/software failures, teaching students to handle common and complex IT issues.
  • Experience in both Windows and Linux system maintenance, ensuring participants understand multi-platform troubleshooting.
  • Practical experience with system security, backup management, and network maintenance.

Proposed Weekly Lessons

The six-week course will progressively build participants' skills from basic troubleshooting to advanced maintenance techniques. Here are three sample lessons:

1. Introduction to Hardware Components & Basic Troubleshooting

  • Identifying key components of a computer (CPU, RAM, Storage, GPU, PSU, Motherboard).
  • Understanding common hardware failures (no power, overheating, noise issues).
  • Hands-on exercise: Diagnosing a faulty computer that does not boot.

2. Operating System Installation & Error Troubleshooting

  • Installing Windows & Linux and understanding partitioning.
  • Resolving boot failures, driver conflicts, and missing system files.
  • Hands-on exercise: Recovering an unbootable system and reinstalling drivers.

3. Virus Removal & System Security

  • Detecting and eliminating viruses, malware, and spyware.
  • Configuring firewalls, antivirus, and secure browsing practices.
  • Hands-on exercise: Scanning and removing threats from an infected system.

Each lesson will be interactive and focus on real-world problem-solving.

AI-Free Assignments Strategy

To prevent AI-generated homework submissions, I will:

  1. Design tasks that require screenshots or video proof of completed troubleshooting steps.
  2. Include hardware-based tasks where participants must perform actions on real machines.
  3. Require personalized explanations of their troubleshooting steps in their own words.
  4. Assess assignments through practical application and step-by-step problem resolution.

This approach ensures that learning remains hands-on and practical, making AI-generated submissions ineffective.

Assessment and Feedback

Participants will be evaluated based on:

  • Practical Implementation – Ability to diagnose and solve issues.
  • Understanding of Concepts – Depth of explanations and problem-solving approaches.
  • Quality of Work – Step-by-step documentation with screenshots or videos.

Grading will be based on a 10-point scale, with detailed feedback provided for every submission to help learners improve.
