Birds on Broadway

These shots are of an art Exhibit Currently on Broadway from 64th Street to 157th Street and are by Artist Nicolas Holber, and is entitled Birdson Broadway the Audubon Sculpture project.
I noticed the first one after at 139th Street on a morning walk and I share the ones I saw from there down to 64th Street, well as I was looking up for info about it it seems I missed a few and may have to go back to catch sight of the rest of them
This public art exhibition is to raise awareness for bird species whose existence is threatened by climate change, while also bringing beauty to the urban landscape, and was funded through I Kickstarter project I believe along with Support from the New York Audubon Society..
This first one I share is on 177th Street and is a Common Goldeneye

This next one is on 96th Street and is a Brant,

And I guess it is a stretch but I will make this an entry for Feathered Friday

The nest one features a few of the Scarlet Tanager at 86th Street

As I side note when finding out what Birds each sculpture was, I read that Holiber is the youngest artist to have a solo exhibition presented by the Broadway Mall Association. I loved the style he went for with these pieces

This next one is an American Bittern and is at 79th Street

And next up we have a peregrine Falcom at 72nd Street

And this is the last one I got shots of at 64th Street and is a Red-necked Greber with some small ones on its back.

Now I need to get back to Broadway and visit, 105th Street, and 139th Street ( which I must have walked by and completely missed seeing and then head up to catch the pieces at 148th Street and 157th Street so I will have seen them all, that's going to be a long walk one morning :)

that's all Folks

This image reminded me of the tanks of the first world war :0)

From the distance as I approached this I thought the same thing

These are amazing, @tattoodjay. Thank you for sharing these pictures, and the info about the artist. I found a link with cool info about about the project, as well as a video interview with the artist that includes a map of the sculpture placement. And you’re right that it started with a kickstarter campaign! What an amazing project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/967088629/nicolas-holiber-birds-on-broadway-audubon-sculptur

Thanks I think I saw the same video when I was researching the project I love how these have a more handcrafted simplistic style to them and how it is for a good cause

it is a lovely artwork

Isnt it just I love the handcrted smile feel to them

Oooh, I really like the cardinals. My wife always gets a little sentimental when she sees one.

I to love Cardinals, them and Bluejays are my favorite birds so I love the Cardinal one in this exhibit

I love these! Such an interesting selection of birds were represented. You could post these beauties to #featheredfriday!

I thought of that abut Feathered Friday just after posting it, so to ate now but it would have been aa good idea LOL

Can you change one of the tags and edit the post? I know some of the other birders would love to see it. I'll resteem it.

DG yes of citizens can and have done that I didn’t even think about that lol

Those birds are so artistic and true to life and I am amazed! I am so happy you shared these with us today. I just love that falcon.

Aren’t they all just so cool, I want to go back and get to see the couple i missed but its so far out of the way for me

Sounds like an announcement of a musical 😁

And they really look like stars. Amazing art!

I don’t think t is tied to a musical but it could well be i love the idea of this art and what it represents

I meant it sounds likely: "Cats on Broadway" 🐱

LOL I see what you mean :)

I think the Tanagers are my favorite! Thanks for posting this to #featheredfriday. It is fun to see photos of this bird art! Resteeming!

They are my favorite as well so cool with the group of them

Wow. What a fantastic sculpture collection. I have said it before and I will say it again. You are so lucky to spend time in NYC:)

Yes indeed I truly am lucky 🍀

I can't imagine how you found so many bird sculptures!
Bravo for the effort, and the shots!! :)

I was lucky I discovered one and they had a chart showing the rest int he series so it was easy

Those birds are quite impressive and beautiful. Thanks for sharing your lovely art.

And thanks for your visit, it was cool I happened to come across these and work my way down Broadway to see many of them

That was truly an interesting find!

Yes indeed i think it is one of my favorite ones on display at the moment in the city

These are very nice. The style, as you say, and material are perfect for texture and color.

The artist has a very open creative vision.

Does the general public comment on these artistic displays or are they rather used to it? And, sorry, I always have to think what else might have been done with the funds. 🙄

Thanks as always for my cultural enhancement this morning.

Ithey are somehting completely different have a more hand crafted feel to them I think

Love these fascinating bird statues @tatoodjay They are very unique and beautifully made with some surrounded by attractive gardens and the others lending a lot of interest in the city center. (U & R )

Thanks it is such a cool exhibit I was glad to come across it my chance ;)

I'm glad you came across this exhibit too JJ. It does add life and interest to an area doesn't it?

I was lucky to happen upon it and had to check out the rest of them :)

Great post. I was attracted to it because of the title. Then I loved it even more because it’s art and in my old city.

Funny, yesterday I was actifitting 😀(walking) down a street in old Amsterdam taking photos of sculptures. The rain stopped me but I plan to return for some more gorgeous shots.

It was such a cool find I didn't know they were there, so it was a nice surprise :)
Looking forward to when you get to see the sculptures and share them with us

Yes I can imagine that it was a good find. Here it is an annual thing so I look forward to it. I will check your blog daily and let you know when I created my street art post. :-)

Thanks I look forward to seeing your post ;)
