Command prompt

in cmd •  3 years ago

The Windows command prompt character (cmd.exe) is a shell program under Windows NT used to execute Windows console programs or some DOS programs; or a shell program only used to execute console programs under Windows CE. It is used to replace COMMAND.COM and "MS-DOS prompt" provided in Windows 9x systems. The original version of the command prompt character was developed by Therese Stowell. [1]
