The annual CMT Awards ceremony was held last night, honoring the best in country music over the past year. Hosted by country star Kane Brown, the event featured performances by some of the biggest names in the industry, as well as some exciting collaborations and surprise appearances.
One of the highlights of the night was a tribute to the late country legend Kenny Rogers, who passed away last year. Several artists came together to perform some of Rogers' biggest hits, including "Islands in the Stream" and "The Gambler." Dolly Parton, a longtime friend and collaborator of Rogers, also made an emotional speech in his honor.
The awards themselves were spread out among a diverse group of artists, with Miranda Lambert taking home the most wins of the night. She won Female Video of the Year for "Bluebird," Collaborative Video of the Year for "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" with Maren Morris, Elle King, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes and Caylee Hammack, and Group Video of the Year for her work with the Pistol Annies.
Other winners included Luke Bryan for Male Video of the Year with "One Margarita," Chris Stapleton for Video of the Year with "Starting Over," and Gabby Barrett for Breakthrough Video of the Year with "I Hope."
The night also featured some exciting collaborations, including Luke Combs and Brooks & Dunn performing their hit "1, 2 Many," and Carrie Underwood and John Legend teaming up for their duet "Hallelujah."
Overall, the CMT Awards proved once again that country music is alive and well, and that there are a multitude of talented artists in the genre. Congratulations to all of the winners and nominees!
