The largest asteroid will cross the earth tomorrow. This is the first time in the last hundred years an asteroid measuring 30 Egyptian pyramids back across Earth in close proximity.
NASA says that this asteroid named Florence will pass in the distance of 7 million kilometers from the surface of the earth.
"The trajectory of Florence this time is the closest since 1890. This distance remains the closest to at least after 2500," added the US space agency again.
Florence is one of the largest asteroids around the earth. Its size is about 4.4 kilometers or the equivalent size of 30 Egyptian pyramids are united.
Florence was first discovered in 1981. The name Florence itself is taken from the inventor of the science of nursing modern 19th century, Florence Nightingale.
"Although more asteroids have crossed closer than Florence, but all of these asteroids are thought to be smaller in size," explains Paul Chodas, NASA's Penga Natan Manager for Near-Earth Object Studies.
The researchers plan to study the asteroid as it passes by. They will use radar imagery in California and Puerto Rico.
"The radar imaging results will show the true size of Florence and may reveal the surface detail from a distance of 10 meters," said NASA.
