Muir Woods National Monument | 穆爾紅木森林國家紀念保護區

It was our original plan to visit one of the national parks around but due to time limitation, we were not able to do so. Therefore, in the last week of our California trip, we decided to find an alternative. Our friends suggested to visit Muir Woods National Monument, which is only 17 miles away from San Francisco. It was a very nice place to visit.

在加州之行接近完結之時，我們決定要探訪一下美國的自然環境。原來是想去遠一點的國家公園，不過因為時間所限，朋友推介我們到「穆爾紅木森林國家紀念保護區」去看看。這個距離三藩市不到17里的紅木森林，亦沒有令人失望。

Traveling out in the morning, we first dropped by the beautiful town of "Sausalito". Sausalito was famous in Hong Kong due to a romantic movie. It is always on my "want to go" list and I took this chance to go there with my family.

我們早上出發，先到風景美麗的小鎮「索薩利托」。這香港很多人都是因為一套愛情電影而認識這地方的。亦是我其中一個想遊覽而尚未有時間去的地方。今次正好一家人到這兒欣賞一下。

We had our lunch here and then drove to Muir Woods. It took us an hour to reach there due to the construction work along the narrow and zigzag road. It was then another 20 minutes search for a parking space. You may need to take all these into account when you plan your trip.

在索薩利托食過午餐之後，我們駕車到穆爾紅木森林。距離不遠，但因為山路崎嶇多彎，而且中途又有道路工程，所以我們花了一個小時才到達。因為人太多，我們又花了20分鐘才找到泊車的位置。有興趣到這兒遊覽的人要留意這一點。

There were some giant trees along the path between parking lot and the Visitors' center. Right in front of the Visitors' center, there was the model of the whole National Monument.

入口就在遊客中心旁邊。由停車場到遊客中心的一段路已經有不少巨木。在遊客中心前亦有整個保護區的地理模型。

Visitors had to buy tickets to enter the Monument. They form a long line in front of the ticketing counter outside Visitors' center. However, tickets were also sold in the souvenir shop and no need to wait!

這裏是要付入場費的，遊客中心外面有一條長長的人龍在排隊購票，其實遊客中心入面的紀念品店亦可購買入場票，而且不用排隊的。

Roads inside were all covered by wooden boardwalk and visitors were asked to stay inside the boardwalk.

進入「穆爾紅木森林國家紀念保護區」之後的道路基本上都是舖好了木板的。這裏要求遊客只在木棧道上行走，不要超過木棧道的範圍

You could find towering red woods as well as a creek flowing in between. Since there was no direct sunshine, even in summer time, it was very cool in that region.

保護區內不只有參天巨木，亦有潺潺溪流。因為陽光無法真接照射進內，就算在夏天這裏仍是十分清涼。

The ground was covered by clovers. My younger daughter tried very hard to find four-leaf clover but couldn't find any.

地面有很多幸運草，妹妹不停地找尋，希望找到四葉幸運草，可惜找不到。

We reached bridge 3 and then returned as we had another appointment to meet. There were actually other trails available for those who have more time.

時間所限，我們只去到第三道橋就回頭了。如果時間許可，這裏還有幾條行山路徑可以選擇的。

We checked out the souvenir shop inside the Monument before we left. The red woods here were simply magnificent and couldn't be seen in other countries. Should spend more time here, maybe I should find time to visit here again during my next California trip.

回程時在這紀念品店走了一圈才離開這保護區。這裏可以用壯觀來形容。紅木樹林的景色是其他國家所沒有的。有時間的話，應該在這裏逗留長一點時間，或許下次再到灣區的時候再找機會來看看吧。
