In Singapore we celebrate the mid-autumn festival too! Here we prefer to call it the mooncake festival, because com'on Singaporeans love to eat ;) Heh!
My kid celebrated his first OFFICIAL lantern celebration too. Made his first sacrifice to the God of FIRE when his poor lantern blew up in flames.
It'd be interesting to celebrate the festival in China though. I'm sure things are a lot more extravagant there compared to in Singapore! <3

Haha i think most Asian cultures use thirst festivals to just pig themselves out. Oh we only have the plastic laterns but the kids were not interested at all - maybe too young haha
