衡山有“南岳独秀”的美称，“福如东海，寿比南山”的“南山”即衡山，层峦迭嶂，气势磅礴，群峰巍峨。

每到冰雪季节，南岳半山亭以下的南岳古镇春风和煦，绿意浓浓，而山上的植物已披上一层银白的冰雪，南岳福地山上山下两重天，令人称奇。

衡山最高峰——祝融峰，在登山的过程中，可以看到一片片雪白的美景。途中，还可能遇到非常美丽的雾凇。
